Certified Medical Assistant Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a certified medical assistant in Georgia?
Georgia does not issue a state license for medical assistants, so the pathway centers on completing an accredited medical assisting program and earning a nationally recognized credential such as the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants or the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists. Most Georgia employers require one of these credentials alongside a diploma or associate degree from an accredited program offered at community colleges and technical colleges across the state.
Which companies hire certified medical assistants in Georgia?
Companies currently hiring certified medical assistants in Georgia include Wellstar Health System, Northeast Georgia Health System, and Piedmont Healthcare, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Georgia's large integrated health systems and growing network of outpatient specialty clinics drive consistent demand statewide.
Which Georgia cities have the most certified medical assistant jobs?
Atlanta, Gainesville, and Marietta have the most certified medical assistant openings in Georgia. Atlanta dominates the market as home to major health systems like Emory Healthcare, Wellstar, and Piedmont, while Augusta's concentration of hospital campuses and the Augusta University Health system and Savannah's growing outpatient and specialty care sector each generate a steady volume of openings beyond the capital region.
Are there remote certified medical assistant jobs in Georgia?
Yes, but they're rare. About 4% of certified medical assistant openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of most MA duties. The roles most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements involve prior authorization, patient scheduling, insurance verification, or chronic care management where direct patient contact is not required.
How can I get hired as a certified medical assistant in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a Georgia Technical College System medical assisting program and applying for externship-to-hire opportunities that many programs build into their curriculum. Large Georgia employers such as Wellstar Health System and Piedmont Healthcare run new-graduate onboarding tracks for MAs, and community health centers affiliated with the Georgia Primary Care Association frequently hire candidates with a credential but limited clinical hours. Lateral moves from roles such as patient services representative or medical receptionist within a health system are also a common door-opener, and holding a current phlebotomy or EKG technician certification gives candidates a measurable edge.
Where can I find and apply to certified medical assistant jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to certified medical assistant jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Georgia employers. Search the listings to find roles that match your credentials and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
