Charge RN Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a charge rn in Oregon?
You become a charge rn in Oregon by first earning an active RN license through the Oregon State Board of Nursing, which requires completing an accredited nursing program and passing the NCLEX-RN exam. From there, most Oregon hospitals expect candidates to accumulate clinical bedside experience before moving into a charge role. Many facilities also look for a relevant specialty certification and a demonstrated ability to lead peers and manage unit operations during a shift.
Which companies hire charge rns in Oregon?
Companies currently hiring charge rns in Oregon include Fresenius Medical Care, Veterans Care Centers of Oregon, and Providence, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Oregon's large integrated health systems and regional hospital networks account for the majority of charge rn openings across the state.
Which Oregon cities have the most charge rn jobs?
Portland, Salem, and Eugene have the most charge rn openings in Oregon. Portland drives the largest share of postings as the state's primary metro, home to major academic medical centers and multi-site health systems, while Salem and Eugene generate consistent openings through regional hospital campuses and community health networks that serve surrounding rural populations.
Are there remote charge rn jobs in Oregon?
Yes, but they're rare. Charge rn work is fundamentally on-site because the role involves direct supervision of bedside staff and real-time patient care coordination. About 0% of charge rn openings tied to Oregon are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those openings tend to be in telephonic triage, case management charge functions, or administrative oversight roles rather than traditional floor-based positions.
How can I get hired as a charge rn in Oregon with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a new-graduate RN residency program at a large Oregon health system such as OHSU Health or Providence, which provide structured clinical development across specialties including emergency, ICU, and med-surg. Gaining experience in a staff RN role first and then expressing interest in charge shifts as a float or interim charge nurse is how many Oregon nurses earn their first formal charge designation. Holding an Oregon State Board of Nursing license and pursuing a specialty certification early strengthens your candidacy considerably.
Where can I find and apply to charge rn jobs in Oregon?
