As the Lead Director of Digital Product for Clinic Operations and Ambulatory Workflows you will lead the technology product strategy and execution for core clinical care delivery products, including core in-clinic and virtual care encounters, in-basket management, and inventory management.
In this high-impact role, you will partner directly with clinical and business operational leaders to shape end-to-end technology pathways that support the delivery of safe, high quality outpatient care. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of product managers, Epic analysts, software engineers, data scientists, and UI/UX designers to translate clinical vision into scalable technology roadmaps that optimize patient outcomes, with an emphasis on safety, a delightful patient and care team experience, and lowering the total cost of care.
The candidate must have expertise with value-based care models and Epic as a core care delivery platform.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnership & Care Model Integration
- Partner with healthcare delivery leadership to collaborate on end-to-end care models to ensure the execution of efficient and safe care delivery in an outpatient setting, while also reducing administrative burden for the care team. Technology should enable and enhance both the patient and provider experience, resulting in excellent staff retention and patient satisfaction.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner for CVS HCD business stakeholders as they define the "why" and the "what’ for care model strategy.
- Drive cross-functional technology teams that surface technology solutions to enable care model strategy and drive end-to-end execution of technology products.
- Establish shared outcome metrics with business leaders, ensuring all technology investments directly drive improved clinical quality, patient experience, and financial performance.
Product & Technology Leadership
- Lead multidisciplinary technology teams —including Product Managers, Epic Analysts, Software Engineers, Data Scientists, and Designers—to build seamless, end-to-end clinical technology pathways that reduce medical costs, while driving patient experience and outcomes.
- Oversee the transformation of broad clinical ideas into rigorous problem statements, actionable product specifications, and robust Epic/technology architectures.
- Accountable for end-to-end technology design, translation into technical requirements, and technology build.
- Ensure smooth integration between external data sources (e.g., claims data, remote monitoring, health plan feeds) and internal Epic workflows to provide clinicians with real-time, actionable insights. Know when these integrations are needed and partner with technical team members to ensure effective execution that works well in clinical practice.
Operational Execution & Continuous Improvement
- Take end-to-end accountability for the technology lifecycle, from initial problem discovery through technical solutioning, build, deployment, and measurable outcome realization.
- Establish continuous feedback loops and iterative improvement cycles to ensure deployed technologies achieve targeted clinical and financial goals.
- Maintain a deep operational understanding of both Value-Based Care (VBC) and Fee-for-Service (FFS) delivery environments to ensure solutions scale across business models.
Team Leadership & Culture
- Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing product team of "translators"—professionals fluent in both healthcare operations and technology capability.
- Lead and mentor cross-functional technology teams beyond product - Epic analysts, engineers, data scientists - focused on driving success in CVS HCD admissions prevention efforts.
- Foster a team culture grounded in curiosity, resilience, problem-solving, and joy, maintaining high engagement even during complex, high-pressure execution cycles.
Qualifications & Key Competencies
- Executive Presence: Proven ability to communicate, influence, and build trust with senior executive stakeholders and frontline team members alike.
- Epic & Healthcare Tech Expertise: Hands-on experience with Epic EHR workflows, module configurations, and translating operational requirements into Epic build. Understanding of how external health data enriches EHR clinical workflows.
- Healthcare Operations & Domain Knowledge: Deep familiarity with clinical operations, Quality Improvement (QI) methodologies, Value-Based Care (VBC) constructs, and Fee-For-Service (FFS) operational dynamics, and medical cost initiative care pathways.
- Product & Technical Leadership: Track record of leading cross-functional teams to deliver high-scale technology backed clinical interventions.
- Problem-Solving & Accountability: Exceptional analytical rigor; ability to frame ambiguous clinical challenges into structured problem statements. The ability to hold themselves and teams highly accountable for execution and towards measurable outcomes.
- People Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead with empathy, optimism, and rigor, building high-trust teams that excel under pressure.
Required Experience & Education
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Graduate degree and/or clinical background preferred (RN, MD, DO, NP, PA)
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive leadership experience spanning healthcare operations, clinical technology product management, and enterprise EHR implementation (specifically Epic).

Chief Operating Officer Jobs in Connecticut: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a chief operating officer in Connecticut?
The chief operating officer role in Connecticut has no state-issued license, but the path typically runs through a combination of advanced education and deep industry experience. Most Connecticut employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, operations, or a related field, with an MBA carrying significant weight in sectors like insurance, financial services, and healthcare. Candidates generally move up through director or VP-level operations roles before being considered for COO appointments at Connecticut companies.
How much do chief operating officers make in Connecticut?
Chief operating officers in Connecticut earn a median of about $295,120 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $156,680 for the lowest 10% to over $680,080 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire chief operating officers in Connecticut?
Connecticut chief operating officer roles are posted by Hanwha Aerospace USA, Jobot, and AccentCare and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Connecticut's concentration of insurance, financial, and health system headquarters means COO openings skew toward large, regulated organizations with complex operational structures.
Which Connecticut cities have the most chief operating officer jobs?
Stamford, Norwalk, and Connecticut account for the largest share of chief operating officer openings in Connecticut. Hartford leads because it is home to the state's major insurance carriers and health systems, while Stamford draws openings from financial services and corporate headquarters clustered along the I-95 corridor, and New Haven anchors opportunities tied to Yale University, Yale New Haven Health, and the surrounding bioscience ecosystem.
Are there remote chief operating officer jobs in Connecticut?
Yes, but they're rare. Chief operating officers are typically expected to be physically present to lead teams, manage facilities, and engage with boards and regulators, which limits full remote arrangements. About 59% of chief operating officer openings tied to Connecticut are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, and those tend to be at technology-forward or multi-state companies where strategic oversight can be exercised without daily on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a chief operating officer in Connecticut with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is building operational depth in a director or senior manager role at a Connecticut employer before targeting COO positions. Large Connecticut health systems like Hartford HealthCare and Yale New Haven Health run leadership development programs that groom operations managers for executive roles, and insurance carriers such as The Hartford and Cigna regularly promote from within their operations and strategy divisions. Earning an MBA from a Connecticut institution and taking on P&L ownership in a mid-size role accelerates the timeline considerably.
Where can I find and apply to chief operating officer jobs in Connecticut?
You can find and apply to chief operating officer jobs in Connecticut on Migrate Mate, which lists current Connecticut openings across industries including healthcare, financial services, and corporate operations. Search for roles that match your experience level and sector background, then apply directly to the listings that fit your profile.
