- Create the management systems that drive accountability, alignment, and execution across the organization.
- Maintain a portfolio-level view of our highest-priority initiatives, helping leaders manage competing priorities and resource allocation.
- Identify organizational friction and cross-functional dependencies, driving resolution before they become barriers to progress.

Chief Operating Officer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a chief operating officer in Texas?
Reaching a chief operating officer role in Texas typically requires building a decade-long record of progressive operations leadership, usually starting in director or VP-level roles within industries like energy, healthcare, or technology. Texas has no state-issued license or exam specific to the COO title, but executives in regulated sectors such as healthcare or financial services may need credentials aligned to their industry. An MBA from a Texas institution or an equivalent advanced degree strengthens candidacy considerably.
How much do chief operating officers make in Texas?
Chief operating officers in Texas earn a median of about $257,850 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $121,130 for the lowest 10% to over $558,550 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire chief operating officers in Texas?
Employers hiring chief operating officers in Texas right now include Smith Seckman Reid, Crunchyroll, and DaVita, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, large healthcare systems, and growth-stage technology companies keeps consistent demand for operational leadership at the executive level.
Which Texas cities have the most chief operating officer jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Dallas County have the most chief operating officer openings in Texas. Houston's dominance reflects its role as the national headquarters hub for energy and petrochemical companies, while Dallas draws executive hiring from financial services, logistics, and technology firms, and Austin's rapid growth in enterprise technology and venture-backed companies sustains steady demand for senior operations leaders.
Are there remote chief operating officer jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Chief operating officer roles typically require hands-on presence to manage teams, facilities, and stakeholders, so fully remote arrangements are uncommon. About 18% of chief operating officer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to be in technology or professional services companies where operations oversight is less site-dependent. The most remote-compatible responsibilities are strategic planning and performance reporting.
How can I get hired as a chief operating officer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into an operations director or senior VP of Operations role first, which is the direct feeder position for most COO promotions at Texas employers. Large Texas healthcare systems such as HCA Healthcare's Texas division and technology companies based in Austin frequently hire operations managers and directors who can grow into executive roles. Earning an MBA from a Texas program or a recognized operations certification strengthens the case for an accelerated path into executive leadership.
Where can I find and apply to chief operating officer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to chief operating officer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across Houston, Dallas, Austin, and beyond. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly without creating a profile or signing up.
