Client Accounting Manager Jobs in Maine: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a client accounting manager in Maine?
Most client accounting manager roles in Maine require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, followed by several years of progressive accounting experience. Earning a CPA license through the Maine Board of Accountancy, which administers the Uniform CPA Examination and requires a passing score in all four sections, gives candidates a meaningful hiring edge. Many employers prefer candidates who have already supervised staff or managed a book of client accounts before stepping into the manager role.
How much do client accounting managers make in Maine?
Client accounting managers in Maine earn a median of about $133,610 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $81,700 for the lowest 10% to over $231,620 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire client accounting managers in Maine?
Maine client accounting manager roles are posted by T-Mobile, Gallagher, and Hightower Advisors and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Maine's concentration of regional CPA firms, community banks, and mid-market professional services companies means demand is spread across multiple employer types rather than concentrated in a single industry.
Which Maine cities have the most client accounting manager jobs?
Portland, South Portland, and Augusta have the most client accounting manager openings in Maine. Portland drives the largest share of listings given its density of accounting firms, financial services companies, and healthcare organizations, while Bangor and Augusta reflect demand from regional employers, state government contractors, and anchor institutions that maintain ongoing client accounting functions.
Are there remote client accounting manager jobs in Maine?
Yes, and more than many management roles, since the work centers on financial analysis, reporting, and client communication rather than physical presence. About 78% of client accounting manager openings tied to Maine are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed work. Client reporting, month-end close coordination, and portfolio review are the tasks most frequently performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a client accounting manager in Maine with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is entering as a staff accountant or senior accountant at a regional firm such as Berry Dunn or a mid-size CPA practice in Portland or Bangor, then building toward a client-facing role over two to three years. Volunteering to lead client communications or supervise an intern demonstrates readiness for management. Passing the CPA exam through the Maine Board of Accountancy, even before licensure is complete, signals commitment and consistently moves candidates to the front of the hiring queue.
Where can I find and apply to client accounting manager jobs in Maine?
You can find and apply to client accounting manager jobs in Maine on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maine openings from employers actively hiring right now. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and location, and apply directly to whichever positions fit.
