Commercial HVAC Project Coordinator
Location: Kansas City Metro & Surrounding Areas
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday with occasional overtime as needed
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Commercial HVAC Project Coordinator to oversee the HVAC portion of commercial construction projects. We primarily utilize HVAC subcontractors for installation, so this position is responsible for coordinating, managing, and monitoring subcontractor work from the field.
The Project Supervisor will work closely with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and HVAC subcontractors to keep projects organized, on schedule, and completed according to plans and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee HVAC subcontractors on active commercial job sites.
- Review blueprints, mechanical drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Coordinate manpower, scheduling, materials, equipment, and upcoming work with subcontractors.
- Communicate with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and other trades.
- Monitor subcontractor progress and ensure work stays on schedule.
- Inspect HVAC installations to verify quality and compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Oversee installation of ductwork, piping, rooftop units, split systems, equipment, and related HVAC systems.
- Identify and resolve field issues and coordinate solutions with subcontractors and the project team.
- Coordinate system testing, inspections, equipment startup, and punch-list completion.
- Review material needs and coordinate deliveries with subcontractors and vendors.
- Track project progress and communicate scheduling concerns or potential delays.
- Ensure subcontractors maintain safe, clean, and organized jobsites.
- Maintain project documentation, daily reports, and other required records.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with HVAC subcontractors and general contractors.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial HVAC experience.
- Previous experience in a foreman, superintendent, project supervisor, or similar leadership role preferred.
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems and construction practices.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, mechanical drawings, and specifications.
- Experience with ductwork, piping, rooftop units, split systems, and commercial HVAC equipment.
- Knowledge of applicable mechanical codes and OSHA safety requirements.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage and coordinate subcontractors effectively.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience overseeing commercial HVAC subcontractors.
- Experience with small to large-scale commercial projects.
- EPA certification.
- Experience with equipment startup, testing, and commissioning.
- Familiarity with commercial HVAC controls and refrigeration systems.
