Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Intern Jobs at AMETEK Jobs
Align your coursework with AMETEK's technical focus
AMETEK's intern roles concentrate in precision instruments, electronic components, and embedded systems. Before applying, confirm your academic program maps directly to these areas, since CPT authorization requires enrollment in a degree-relevant internship course.
Activate CPT before your offer letter arrives
CPT authorization must come from your DSO before you start work, not after. Contact your international student office as soon as you receive a verbal offer from AMETEK so paperwork doesn't delay your start date.
Target AMETEK's business units with active intern pipelines
AMETEK operates dozens of subsidiaries in aerospace, defense electronics, and test instrumentation. Filtering your search by specific business unit rather than applying to the parent company increases your chances of landing a technically matched, sponsorship-familiar hiring manager.
Use Migrate Mate to surface AMETEK intern openings by visa type
Filtering by sponsorship type saves time when AMETEK posts roles across multiple job boards simultaneously. Migrate Mate lets you search AMETEK's open intern positions specifically by the visa categories they support, so you apply only where you're eligible.
Position OPT start dates around AMETEK's hiring cycle
AMETEK recruits interns primarily for summer and co-op rotations, with offers often finalized months in advance. Request your OPT start date to align with the internship's first day, since USCIS recommends filing at least 90 days before employment begins.

Find Intern at AMETEK JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does AMETEK sponsor H-1B visas for Interns?
AMETEK has sponsored H-1B visas, but intern roles are typically filled through F-1 CPT or OPT rather than H-1B, which is designed for full-time specialty occupation positions. If an intern role converts to a full-time offer, H-1B sponsorship becomes a more relevant conversation. Confirm the role's sponsorship scope directly with your AMETEK recruiter during the offer stage.
Which visa types are commonly used for Intern roles at AMETEK?
F-1 CPT and F-1 OPT are the most practical options for international students in AMETEK intern roles. CPT is used during your degree program for credit-bearing internships, while OPT applies after graduation. AMETEK also has experience with J-1 intern and trainee classifications and has supported TN status for qualifying Canadian and Mexican nationals in technical functions.
How do I apply for Intern jobs at AMETEK?
Applications go through AMETEK's careers portal, where intern openings are listed by business unit and location. You can also find and filter AMETEK's open intern positions by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which helps you identify roles already aligned with your work authorization. Tailor your resume to the specific technical domain of the AMETEK subsidiary posting the role rather than applying broadly.
What qualifications does AMETEK look for in Intern candidates?
AMETEK's intern roles typically require enrollment in an accredited engineering, computer science, or applied physics program. Hands-on experience with electronic test equipment, firmware development, or signal processing is commonly listed in job descriptions. Co-op applicants in particular benefit from prior lab coursework or project portfolios that demonstrate familiarity with precision measurement or embedded systems.
How do I time my application to avoid gaps in work authorization?
For F-1 students, the most common issue is a gap between CPT expiration and OPT start. USCIS recommends filing your OPT application up to 90 days before your program end date. If your AMETEK internship spans a semester break or extends beyond your CPT window, coordinate with your DSO immediately to ensure uninterrupted authorization before your work start date.
