We are the Apple Services Engineering Security team. We build secure systems and infrastructure that fuel Apple's services (such as iCloud, iTunes, Siri, App Store, and Maps). We are expanding our team and searching for a Security Architect who will connect the dots across our security systems, data platforms, risk models, and operational workflows into a coherent technical vision. This is not a purely strategic role. You will spend 20-30% of your time hands-on: prototyping integration patterns, proving out architectural concepts, and gluing the paved path together so that teams can move fast and safely. The remaining time is spent defining architecture, driving cross-team alignment, setting technical standards, and mentoring engineers across the organization. If you thrive at the intersection of big-picture thinking and keyboard-level execution, this role was built for you.
Description
ASE Security operates dozens of systems spanning identity and access management, vulnerability management, risk modeling, security posture, software supply chain, detection and response, and compliance automation. These systems have grown organically, each solving a real problem, but the connections between them are often ad hoc, brittle, or missing entirely. The Security Architect is the person who makes the whole greater than the sum of its parts.
You will define how our security platforms compose, communicate, and evolve together.
Minimum Qualifications
- 20+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure, or security engineering with at least 3 years in an architectural or technical leadership role
- Demonstrated experience designing and evolving distributed systems at scale - including APIs, event-driven architectures, data pipelines, and platform infrastructure
- Strong hands-on engineering skills in at least two of: Python, Go, Java, Swift, Rust - able to prototype, build reference implementations, and review code with authority
- Deep understanding of security fundamentals - authentication, authorization, cryptography, network security, and secure software development lifecycle
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with security-specific architectures: SIEM/SOAR platforms, identity and access management systems, vulnerability management, or risk modeling
- Familiarity with graph databases, knowledge graphs, or ontology-based data modeling
- Experience with Apple's technology ecosystem or large-scale consumer services infrastructure
- Background in platform engineering - building shared infrastructure, developer tools, or internal platforms that other teams build on
- Experience operating in a complex, matrixed organization where influence matters more than authority
- Contributions to open-source security projects, industry standards, or published security research

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Technical Architect Jobs at Apple Jobs
Align your portfolio to Apple's hardware ecosystem
Apple's Technical Architect roles prioritize systems experience specific to silicon, firmware, or platform integration. Frame your credentials around vertically integrated hardware-software stacks, not general enterprise architecture, before you apply.
Target teams building custom silicon infrastructure
Apple's most active Technical Architect hiring clusters around its custom chip and platform teams. Searching by business unit, not just job title, surfaces roles where your specialization in low-level systems or SoC architecture is directly relevant.
Confirm your visa category before accepting an offer
Apple sponsors H-1B, E-3, H-1B1, and TN visas for Technical Architect roles, and each has different timelines. Confirm which category your recruiter intends to file under early, since an H-1B cap-subject petition requires planning around the April lottery window.
Request premium processing if your start date is fixed
USCIS offers premium processing for H-1B and certain other petitions, returning a decision in 15 business days. If your offer letter specifies a start date tied to a product cycle or team headcount, ask your recruiter to confirm whether Apple will elect premium.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Technical Architect openings by visa type
Apple posts Technical Architect roles across multiple teams simultaneously, and not all positions carry the same sponsorship eligibility. Use Migrate Mate to filter active openings by the visa category you hold or need, so you apply to the right roles.
Prepare your PERM documentation early for Green Card pathways
Apple supports EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship for Technical Architects, but the PERM labor certification process requires employer-side recruitment records and DOL review that can take over a year. Raise your long-term immigration goals with your hiring manager before your first performance review.

Find Technical Architect at Apple JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Apple sponsor H-1B visas for Technical Architects?
Yes, Apple sponsors H-1B visas for Technical Architect roles. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, your employer must register you in the USCIS lottery that opens each March, with employment starting no earlier than October 1. If you're already H-1B exempt, Apple can file a transfer petition year-round without waiting for the lottery.
How do I apply for Technical Architect jobs at Apple?
Applications go through Apple's careers site at jobs.apple.com. Technical Architect postings are listed by team and product area, so searching by function rather than exact title surfaces more relevant roles. You can also browse open positions filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate to identify which Apple Technical Architect roles align with your specific visa category before applying.
Which visa types does Apple commonly sponsor for Technical Architect roles?
Apple sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT for Technical Architect roles, as well as Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3. Australian citizens are eligible for the E-3, which has no lottery and processes directly through consular interview. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status, which can be obtained at the port of entry without a USCIS petition.
What qualifications does Apple expect for Technical Architect roles?
Apple's Technical Architect postings consistently require a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science, along with substantial experience in systems architecture, platform integration, or silicon design. Roles tied to custom chip development often require familiarity with SoC architecture or firmware development. Experience leading cross-functional design reviews is a common differentiator at the senior level.
How long does Apple's H-1B sponsorship process take for Technical Architects?
For cap-subject H-1B petitions, the earliest possible start date is October 1, following a lottery registration in March and USCIS adjudication over the summer. Standard processing takes three to five months after filing. Premium processing returns a decision within 15 business days and is available for H-1B petitions. Apple's legal team handles the petition internally, but you should confirm your expected start date with your recruiter before the offer stage.
