Credential Your Clinical Hours Before Applying
CoxHealth Medical Assistant roles consistently require documented hands-on clinical experience. Get your CMA or RMA certification from AAMA or AMT before submitting applications, uncertified candidates rarely advance to sponsorship conversations at employer-sponsored healthcare systems.
Target CoxHealth's High-Volume Hiring Clinics
CoxHealth operates dozens of outpatient clinics across southwest Missouri. Roles in primary care and family medicine locations turn over more frequently than specialty departments, so filtering your search by clinic type improves your odds of landing an open seat that's actively recruiting.
Browse Open Roles Through Migrate Mate
Filter Medical Assistant openings at CoxHealth by visa type on Migrate Mate. This lets you confirm which active postings align with your visa category before investing time in an application, avoiding roles that don't match your work authorization pathway.
Understand How EB-3 PERM Timelines Affect Your Start Date
If CoxHealth pursues EB-3 sponsorship, the PERM labor certification process with the DOL can take six months or longer before an I-140 is filed. Plan your timeline accordingly and clarify with HR early whether they'll bridge your status during the wait.
Confirm OPT Eligibility Covers Your Specific Role
F-1 OPT is valid only when your Medical Assistant duties directly relate to your degree field. If your degree is in a health science, Allied Health, or clinical program, you're well-positioned. Roles with primarily administrative duties may not satisfy USCIS's practical training standard.
Ask HR About TN Status for Canadian and Mexican Applicants
Medical Assistants don't fall under a dedicated TN category, but candidates with qualifying degrees in a related health profession sometimes qualify under adjacent TN classifications. Clarify this with CoxHealth's HR team and verify the applicable occupational standard with USCIS before assuming eligibility.

Does CoxHealth sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Assistants?
CoxHealth's documented sponsorship activity for Medical Assistant roles skews toward employment-based Green Card pathways like EB-2 and EB-3, as well as F-1 OPT and TN. H-1B sponsorship is less common for this role category because Medical Assistant positions are generally not classified as specialty occupations under USCIS standards, which require a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a specific field.
How do I apply for Medical Assistant jobs at CoxHealth?
Applications go through CoxHealth's careers portal. Search for Medical Assistant openings, filter by location across its Springfield-area facilities, and submit your application with a resume that highlights clinical certifications like CMA or RMA and any direct patient care experience. If you need visa sponsorship, flag your work authorization status clearly in the application so HR can route your file appropriately from the start.
Which visa types does CoxHealth commonly use for Medical Assistant roles?
CoxHealth has sponsored Medical Assistant candidates through F-1 OPT, TN, and employment-based immigrant visa categories including EB-2 and EB-3. F-1 OPT is the most accessible entry point for recent graduates, while EB-3 is the more common pathway for candidates seeking a longer-term sponsored route to permanent residence through the PERM labor certification process with the DOL.
What qualifications does CoxHealth expect for sponsored Medical Assistant roles?
CoxHealth typically looks for candidates with a Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program, such as a CMA through AAMA or RMA through AMT, combined with documented clinical hours in a patient-facing setting. Experience in phlebotomy, vital signs, and electronic health records is common across their postings. Candidates without certification may qualify if they can demonstrate equivalent clinical training and experience aligned to the specific department's needs.
How do I find Medical Assistant roles at CoxHealth that match my visa type?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Medical Assistant openings specifically at CoxHealth by the visa categories the organization sponsors, so you're only reviewing roles that align with your work authorization situation. This saves time compared to scanning general job boards where sponsorship details are often missing or buried in the application process.
