About the Team
The Emerging Markets team promotes growth in local economies by building meaningful partnerships with merchants across underdeveloped, high-opportunity markets. We focus on T4–T5 geographies—one of DoorDash's highest company priorities, representing over 40% of remaining restaurant opportunities as we expand beyond core cities and suburbs. Our team creates first connections with SMB restaurants and retailers, helping them grow and monetize through on-demand delivery.
This is a field sales opportunity with extensive travel within the region. You will need to live by or in proximity to a major airport.
About the Role
As a Growth Merchant Lead (GML), you will play a pivotal role in expanding DoorDash's footprint by opening new markets and bringing new restaurant partnerships onto the platform. You will own a high-velocity, in-person sales cycle and spend the majority of your time developing Tier 4-5 ("emerging") markets – some of DoorDash's largest remaining areas of opportunity. This role requires extensive travel (70%+) and is ideal for someone who is energized by building new markets from the ground up and influencing market growth directly.
You'll report to a Regional Sales Manager for the region and work cross-functionally with teams across the business. You'll join a culture that prioritizes learning, ownership, and career development, with direct access to the support and resources you need to grow to the next level.
This is a field sales role with extensive travel within the region. You will spend most of your time traveling in the region meeting with merchants, with some time working remotely. In addition, this role will require the ability to travel as needed for in-person collaboration through trainings, offsites, team-building events, and other business related necessity.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Expand DoorDash's presence by traveling to emerging markets and developing new restaurant partnerships.
- Lead end-to-end, in-person sales cycles– prospecting, pitching, negotiating, and closing.
- Sell business owners on DoorDash's value and secure revenue-share agreements.
- Consistently execute high-volume field activity and close deals within days.
- Build scalable approaches and playbooks to accelerate market expansion.
- Shape DoorDash's expansion strategy in rural economies.
- Have an outsized impact on growth in high-priority markets.
We're excited about you because…
- You have 4+ years of in-person, outside B2B sales experience (field experience is required)
- You have proven success running short, high-velocity, full sales cycles – including same-day closes.
- You have strong prospecting, hunting, and negotiation skills.
- You are energized by extensive travel – spending 70%+ of your time in the field, including overnight travel inside and outside of your home state.
- You are entrepreneurial, adaptable, and motivated building and scaling new markets.
- You have demonstrated success operating autonomously and thrive in environments where you will create the playbook, not follow one.
- You are comfortable using Salesforce, Google Workspace, and sales productivity tools.

Align your portfolio to DoorDash's growth model
DoorDash growth roles favor candidates with hands-on experience in marketplace dynamics, cohort retention, or multi-sided funnel optimization. Frame past work around merchant, dasher, or consumer acquisition loops, not generic campaign metrics.
Target roles specifying LCA-covered wage levels
DoorDash files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before any H-1B or E-3 petition. Growth roles coded under marketing or business analyst SOC codes carry different prevailing wage floors, so check DOL OFLC disclosure data to understand where your level likely falls.
Time your application around H-1B cap registration
If you need H-1B sponsorship, the annual cap registration opens in March for an October 1 start. Structure your DoorDash job search so final-round interviews land in January or February, giving the recruiting team time to register before the window closes.
Clarify OPT STEM extension eligibility before signing
Growth analyst and operations roles at DoorDash frequently qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension if your degree is in a STEM-designated field. Confirm your CIP code against the DHS STEM list before your offer stage so you and your employer agree on your authorized work timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified DoorDash Growth openings
Searching broadly misses roles that are actively open to visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter DoorDash Growth positions by visa type so you're only spending time on roles where sponsorship is confirmed and the position matches your authorization status.
Prepare for a split petition timeline if switching status
If you're changing from F-1 OPT to H-1B through DoorDash, USCIS processes the cap-subject petition with an October 1 validity date. Coordinate with your employer's immigration counsel early so your OPT expiration and the petition filing window don't create an unauthorized gap.

Find Growth at DoorDash JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does DoorDash sponsor H-1B visas for Growth roles?
Yes, DoorDash sponsors H-1B visas for Growth positions. The company works with immigration counsel to file Labor Condition Applications with the DOL and submit H-1B petitions to USCIS on behalf of qualifying hires. Growth roles in analytics, marketing operations, and user acquisition are among the functions where H-1B sponsorship has been extended to international candidates.
Which visa types are commonly used for Growth roles at DoorDash?
DoorDash sponsors a range of visa types for Growth hires, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT including STEM extensions. Green Card pathways under EB-2 and EB-3 are also available for longer-tenured employees moving toward permanent residence.
What qualifications and experience are expected for Growth roles at DoorDash?
DoorDash Growth roles typically require a bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business-related field, though data-heavy positions often prefer candidates with backgrounds in statistics, economics, or engineering. Practical experience with A/B testing, SQL, growth modeling, or paid acquisition is valued alongside familiarity with marketplace or platform business models. Senior roles generally expect prior experience owning a specific growth channel or metric.
How do I apply for Growth jobs at DoorDash?
You can browse and apply for Growth positions directly through DoorDash's careers site. To find roles where visa sponsorship is explicitly confirmed, Migrate Mate lets you filter DoorDash Growth openings by visa type before you apply. For H-1B cap-subject roles, timing your application to allow for registration in the March window significantly improves your chances of starting on October 1.
How do I navigate the sponsorship process timeline for a DoorDash Growth offer?
Once you receive an offer, DoorDash's immigration counsel typically handles LCA filing with the DOL, which must be certified before a petition reaches USCIS. Standard H-1B processing takes several months, but premium processing is available for faster adjudication. If you're on OPT, confirm your remaining authorized period covers the gap between your start date and the petition's approval or effective date.
