Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
E-3 requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a directly related bachelor's degree or higher is a genuine prerequisite. For Juilliard positions in music, drama, or arts administration, document how your degree field maps precisely to the advertised role's core responsibilities.
Target faculty and arts administration openings
Juilliard's E-3 sponsorship history is concentrated in specialized academic and artistic roles rather than general administrative support. Search specifically for faculty, artist-in-residence, and program director postings where an advanced performing arts or conservatory credential is a stated hiring requirement.
Verify prevailing wage before salary negotiations
Before accepting any offer, use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your specific job title and New York City location. Juilliard's LCA must certify a wage at or above that threshold, so knowing the figure protects you in offer discussions.
Confirm Juilliard's LCA filing readiness early
Ask the hiring manager or HR contact whether the role has an active or pending Labor Condition Application with DOL before you advance to final interview stages. A certified LCA must exist before your E-3 consular appointment, and delays here are the most common bottleneck at smaller institutional employers.
Use Migrate Mate to file your E-3 documentation
Once Juilliard issues your offer and certifies the LCA, use Migrate Mate to prepare and file your E-3 application. A dedicated visa expert handles the paperwork at a flat fee, which is especially useful when coordinating with an arts institution's HR team that may have limited E-3 experience.
Prepare your nonimmigrant intent position for the interview
E-3 is a nonimmigrant visa, so your consular officer will assess whether you intend to return to Australia. For a conservatory role at Juilliard, prepare a clear narrative about your professional ties to Australia, such as ongoing collaborations, residency, or family connections that demonstrate home-country intent.
The Juilliard School E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Juilliard School sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Juilliard School has sponsored E-3 visas for qualifying Australian professionals. Sponsorship is selective and concentrated in specialized roles across its performing arts programs. Because Juilliard hires for highly specific academic and artistic positions, confirming E-3 eligibility with the hiring team early in the process is advisable.
Which roles or departments at Juilliard typically receive E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at Juilliard tends to align with faculty, artist-in-residence, and senior program administration roles where a directly related advanced degree is a genuine prerequisite. General operations or entry-level administrative positions are less likely to qualify as specialty occupations under E-3 requirements. Check the O*NET profile for your target job title to confirm specialty occupation classification.
How do I apply for E-3 sponsorship through Juilliard School?
Once Juilliard extends a formal offer, their HR or legal team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. After LCA certification, you complete the DS-160, pay the MRV fee, and attend a consular interview at a U.S. embassy in Australia. USCIS is not involved in standard consular E-3 processing, which keeps the timeline shorter than many other work visa categories.
How long does E-3 visa processing take through a Juilliard offer?
LCA certification with DOL typically takes around seven business days. Consular appointment availability in Australia varies by location and season, but most applicants receive a decision on the day of their interview. From signed offer letter to visa in hand, the full process generally runs four to eight weeks, depending on consulate wait times.
How do I find open E-3 roles at Juilliard School and manage the application?
Migrate Mate lists verified E-3 sponsoring employers including Juilliard, letting you filter for active openings and review the school's LCA filing history by role type. Once you secure an offer, Migrate Mate's filing service assigns a dedicated E-3 expert to coordinate the LCA and consular application documents, reducing back-and-forth with Juilliard's HR team.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Juilliard School?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
