Match your degree to the role
Cameron University's E-3 sponsorship depends on your degree field directly matching the job's requirements. Review each posting for the specific discipline listed, not just the job title. A business administration degree won't support an E-3 for a psychology faculty role, regardless of experience.
Target departments with recurring vacancies
Academic departments at Cameron University that post adjunct or visiting positions repeatedly are more likely to have international hiring infrastructure already in place. Focus your search on departments that have advertised multiple openings across consecutive semesters, as they're more accustomed to sponsoring foreign national employees.
Request the LCA before your interview date
Cameron University's HR or international office must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your visa appointment. Ask your hiring contact early in the offer stage which office handles LCA filings, so you're not waiting on certification at the last minute and missing your consulate slot.
Verify your prevailing wage alignment
Use the OFLC Wage Search to check the prevailing wage for your specific role and location before accepting an offer. Cameron University must certify your salary meets that threshold on the LCA. Knowing the figure in advance helps you negotiate a compliant offer without delaying the filing timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm your occupation qualifies
Not every role at a university qualifies as a specialty occupation under E-3 rules. Use Migrate Mate to check whether your specific job title and duties meet the degree-requirement threshold, and to start your E-3 filing once you have a certified LCA from Cameron University's HR team.
Prepare your academic credentials before applying
Cameron University's hiring committees evaluate transcripts and degree equivalency early in the process. If your Australian qualification is a three-year bachelor's degree, gather any course-level documentation that confirms it meets U.S. equivalency standards. USCIS accepts three-year degrees, but your evidence needs to make that clear upfront.
University of Oklahoma E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Cameron University sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Cameron University sponsors E-3 visas for eligible Australian nationals in qualifying specialty occupation roles. Sponsorship is most common for faculty, research, and academic professional positions where a specific bachelor's degree in a related field is a stated job requirement. Not every role at the university qualifies, so confirming specialty occupation status before applying is essential.
Which departments or roles at Cameron University typically receive E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at Cameron University is most likely for roles in academic instruction, research, and student affairs that require a directly related degree. Faculty positions, visiting lecturer roles, and certain administrative posts in areas like advising or curriculum development are common candidates. Roles that list a preferred degree rather than a required one may not meet the E-3 specialty occupation threshold.
How do I start the E-3 application process at Cameron University?
After receiving a written offer, Cameron University's HR or international student office files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. Once that's certified, you take it to your Australian consulate appointment along with your DS-160, passport, and supporting documents. USCIS doesn't adjudicate E-3 applications at the consulate stage, so the process moves faster than H-1B visa petitions filed domestically.
How long does E-3 sponsorship typically take at a university like Cameron University?
DOL certifies most Labor Condition Applications within seven business days. After that, consulate appointment wait times vary by location and season, but Australian applicants typically receive their visa stamp within two to four weeks of the interview. Build extra time into your start date to account for any administrative processing requests the consulate may issue.
How do I find open E-3 roles at Cameron University and confirm they're sponsorship-eligible?
Search Cameron University's careers page and filter for roles that list a specific required degree in the posting. Migrate Mate can help you verify whether a role meets E-3 specialty occupation requirements and guide you through the filing steps once you have an offer. Avoid roles that list degree as preferred rather than required, as those create risk at the LCA stage.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Cameron University?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
