Frame your credentials around GHD's service lines
GHD's BD roles sit at the intersection of technical consulting and client-facing sales. Before applying, tailor your resume and portfolio to show experience supporting infrastructure, environment, or advisory pursuits, not just general business development.
Target GHD's regional market sectors directly
GHD structures hiring around geographic business units and sector verticals like water, transportation, and energy. Researching which regional office or sector team has open BD roles lets you pitch your network and pipeline experience as immediately relevant.
Confirm your visa category fits GHD's sponsorship scope
GHD has sponsored candidates under multiple nonimmigrant and immigrant visa pathways. If you're on F-1 OPT, verify your STEM extension eligibility before outreach, since BD consulting roles often qualify and give you a longer runway to secure a sponsored position.
Get your PERM documentation strategy right early
If GHD pursues an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card for you, the PERM labor certification process requires DOL-specific recruitment documentation. Ask your recruiting contact early whether GHD handles this internally or through outside counsel so you know the timeline ahead.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open BD roles at GHD
Pinpointing which GHD offices are actively hiring Business Development Consultants with sponsorship is the hardest part. Search Migrate Mate to filter open GHD roles by visa type and location before you spend time customizing your application materials.
Prepare for GHD's offer-to-filing gap on I-129 petitions
For H-1B transfers or TN renewals, USCIS processing under standard timelines can take several months. Once you have an offer, align with GHD's HR on whether premium processing is available so your start date and authorization window stay in sync.

Does GHD sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Consultants?
GHD's primary sponsorship activity for Business Development Consultants has been under immigrant and nonimmigrant pathways including EB-2, EB-3, and F-1 OPT rather than H-1B transfers. That said, sponsorship decisions are role-specific and tied to hiring need, so it's worth raising the H-1B question directly with GHD's HR team during the offer stage to confirm what they can support for your situation.
How do I apply for Business Development Consultant jobs at GHD?
Applications go through GHD's careers portal, where roles are organized by region and service line. Before applying, identify which market sector or geographic business unit aligns with your background, since GHD's BD hiring is decentralized. You can also browse current openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to find roles where international candidates are actively considered.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Development Consultant roles at GHD?
GHD has sponsored Business Development Consultants under F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, J-1, and permanent resident pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. F-1 OPT candidates should confirm their graduation date and remaining authorization window before applying, since GHD's hiring cycle for BD roles can take several months from initial interview to offer.
What qualifications and experience does GHD look for in Business Development Consultants?
GHD's BD Consultant roles typically require a bachelor's degree in a field aligned with one of their core service lines, such as engineering, environmental science, planning, or business. Practical experience supporting proposals, managing client relationships, or pursuing public-sector contracts in infrastructure or advisory services is weighted heavily. Candidates who can demonstrate pipeline contributions or specific project wins in GHD's target sectors stand out from general sales backgrounds.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a GHD Business Development Consultant offer?
Timeline depends on the visa category. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the port of entry on the same day as your start date. F-1 OPT authorization, if already approved, activates on your designated start date. EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM involves a DOL-supervised recruitment period followed by USCIS adjudication, which commonly takes one to two years or longer depending on your priority date and country of birth.
