Frame your credentials around field operations
Groundworks prioritizes hands-on operations experience over academic credentials alone. Document any experience managing field crews, coordinating service schedules, or overseeing subcontractors in facilities or property maintenance, as these map directly to how the role functions day-to-day.
Target Groundworks markets with high hiring activity
Groundworks expands through regional acquisitions, so some markets have far more open Operations Manager positions than others. Research which states have recently added Groundworks locations and focus your applications there, since those markets are actively building out their operations leadership teams.
Understand how H-2B fits operations hiring
The H-2B visa is tied to temporary or seasonal labor demand, which aligns with how Groundworks scales field operations across peak service periods. Confirm with your recruiter whether the position qualifies as temporary need and that DOL certification has been completed before your start date.
Clarify sponsorship intent early in interviews
Groundworks hires at volume for this role, so not every recruiter will raise visa sponsorship unprompted. Ask directly during the initial screening whether the specific position is approved for sponsorship, rather than assuming it carries through from the job listing.
Prepare for E-Verify at onboarding
Groundworks operates as a federal contractor in many jurisdictions and uses E-Verify to confirm work authorization. Have your travel documents, visa approval notice, and I-94 record ready before your first day to avoid delays that could affect your start date and payroll setup.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Groundworks openings by sponsorship
Operations Manager roles at Groundworks are posted across dozens of locations simultaneously, and not all listings flag visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Groundworks positions that confirm sponsorship eligibility, so you're not wasting applications on roles that won't move forward.

Does Groundworks sponsor H-1B visas for Operations Managers?
Groundworks' primary sponsorship activity for Operations Manager roles has been through the H-2B visa category rather than H-1B. H-1B sponsorship is more common for roles requiring specialized theoretical or technical expertise tied to a specific degree field. Operations management in facilities services tends to be classified under temporary labor demand, which aligns more closely with H-2B eligibility criteria.
Which visa types are commonly used for Operations Manager roles at Groundworks?
The H-2B visa is the most common pathway Groundworks uses for Operations Manager sponsorship. H-2B covers temporary nonagricultural workers, and it fits Groundworks' seasonal and regional hiring patterns in facilities and property services. If you're targeting a longer-term path, discuss with the hiring team whether the role has the potential to transition to permanent sponsorship down the line.
What qualifications does Groundworks expect for Operations Manager candidates?
Groundworks looks for candidates with direct experience managing field service teams, handling scheduling across multiple crews, and maintaining operational metrics in a property or facilities services environment. Familiarity with work order management systems, safety compliance protocols, and subcontractor coordination carries real weight. A background in foundation repair, waterproofing, or related trades is a strong differentiator for this specific company.
How do I apply for Operations Manager jobs at Groundworks?
You can browse and apply for Operations Manager roles at Groundworks through Migrate Mate, which filters for positions that confirm visa sponsorship eligibility. When you apply, tailor your resume to highlight field crew oversight, regional operations experience, and any familiarity with residential or commercial property services. Follow up with the recruiter promptly to confirm sponsorship availability for your specific target location.
How do I plan my timeline around Groundworks' H-2B sponsorship process?
H-2B sponsorship involves DOL certification before USCIS can approve the petition, which adds lead time compared to other visa types. The DOL certification step alone can take several weeks, and USCIS standard processing adds more. Get clarity from Groundworks' HR team on when they intend to file so you can plan your current status or visa expiration around the expected approval window.
