Frame your credentials around fixed operations
Group 1 dealerships structure Operations around service, parts, and fixed ops functions. Align your resume to show experience in those specific areas rather than generic supply chain or logistics work, which may not resonate with dealership hiring managers.
Target multi-rooftop dealership groups deliberately
Large dealer groups like Group 1 have centralized HR and legal infrastructure to handle visa filings. Smaller single-location dealerships typically lack this. Focusing your search on regional operations manager or service director openings at multi-location groups improves your odds significantly.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Operations roles by sponsorship history
Not every Operations posting at Group 1 will explicitly mention sponsorship. Search on Migrate Mate to surface roles at Group 1 Automotive where visa sponsorship has previously been supported, so you target openings with a realistic path forward.
Prepare your LCA documentation for a specific location
Group 1 operates dealerships across multiple states. Because the DOL Labor Condition Application is tied to the specific worksite, confirm which location the role is based at before filing begins, since a location change can require a new LCA.
Account for H-1B cap timing in your job search calendar
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS only accepts registrations in March for an October 1 start date. Build your Group 1 application timeline around this window so an offer letter can be secured before the registration deadline closes.

Does Group 1 Automotive sponsor H-1B visas for Operations roles?
Group 1 Automotive has sponsored H-1B visas for Operations positions. Sponsorship is not guaranteed for every role or location, and decisions are typically made at the corporate level. Your strongest path is to confirm sponsorship availability directly with the recruiter early in the process and ensure the specific role and worksite are eligible before an offer is extended.
How do I apply for Operations jobs at Group 1 Automotive?
You can browse and apply for Operations roles at Group 1 Automotive through Migrate Mate, which surfaces positions where visa sponsorship has previously been supported. Applications typically go through Group 1's internal recruiting team. Having a resume tailored to dealership operations, specifically service, parts, or fixed ops functions, will make your application more competitive at the screening stage.
Which visa types are commonly used for Operations roles at Group 1 Automotive?
H-1B is the most common visa type for professional Operations roles requiring a bachelor's degree or equivalent. F-1 OPT and CPT are options for recent graduates in early-career positions. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupational categories. J-1 visas can apply in certain training or exchange contexts. The right visa depends on your nationality, education, and the specific role.
What qualifications does Group 1 Automotive expect for Operations roles?
Group 1 Automotive typically looks for candidates with a background in automotive dealership operations, service management, or parts and inventory coordination. A bachelor's degree in business, operations management, or a related field strengthens H-1B eligibility by supporting the specialty occupation requirement. Hands-on experience in a dealership fixed ops environment is often valued as much as formal credentials for mid-level and senior roles.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing a sponsored Operations role at Group 1 Automotive?
Timeline depends on your visa category. H-1B transfers for candidates already in status can move quickly, often within a few weeks after an offer is signed. New H-1B petitions are subject to the annual USCIS lottery, with registration in March and employment start no earlier than October 1. OPT and TN transitions can be faster. Build your job search to align with these windows so an offer doesn't expire before your work authorization is in place.
