Align your credentials with healthcare administrative standards
Indiana University Health administrative roles often require familiarity with electronic health record systems like Epic. Earn a relevant certification or complete an EHR training course before applying so your resume signals readiness for a clinical environment.
Target departments with recurring administrative openings
Large health systems fill administrative vacancies across outpatient clinics, billing, and care coordination units on a rolling basis. Search Indiana University Health's careers portal by department to find teams with consistent hiring patterns rather than applying to the general pool.
Confirm sponsorship eligibility before your interview stage
Ask the recruiter directly whether the specific administrative role is approved for H-1B or TN sponsorship before investing time in multi-round interviews. Some administrative positions at health systems are classified differently depending on the department budget.
Understand the PERM timeline for employer-sponsored Green Cards
If you are targeting long-term permanent residence, ask whether Indiana University Health initiates PERM labor certification for administrative staff. DOL processing for PERM can take a year or more, so starting that conversation early in your offer negotiation matters.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by sponsorship type
Identifying which Indiana University Health administrative postings actively support visa filings is time-consuming manually. Use Migrate Mate to filter open Administrative Assistant roles by the specific visa types the health system has sponsored, saving significant research time.
Prepare your OPT or CPT documentation for immediate verification
Indiana University Health uses E-Verify for employment eligibility checks. If you are starting on F-1 OPT, have your EAD and SEVIS records organized before your first day so the E-Verify process resolves quickly without delaying your start date.

Find Administrative Assistant at Indiana University Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Indiana University Health sponsor H-1B visas for Administrative Assistants?
Yes, Indiana University Health sponsors H-1B visas for Administrative Assistant roles, though sponsorship depends on the specific position and department. Administrative roles that require a bachelor's degree in a related field are more likely to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. Confirm with the recruiter early in the process whether the role you are applying for is currently approved for H-1B sponsorship.
How do I apply for Administrative Assistant jobs at Indiana University Health?
Applications go through Indiana University Health's official careers portal, where roles are posted by department and location across their hospital and clinic network. You can also browse open Administrative Assistant positions at Indiana University Health filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to identify postings that align with your work authorization situation before you apply.
Which visa types are commonly used for Administrative Assistant roles at Indiana University Health?
Indiana University Health has sponsored H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for staff in administrative functions. TN visas apply specifically to Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible professional categories. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, with some transitioning to H-1B sponsorship once they secure a permanent role.
What qualifications are expected for Administrative Assistant positions at Indiana University Health?
Most Administrative Assistant roles at Indiana University Health expect proficiency with scheduling systems, electronic health records, and healthcare-specific software such as Epic. A bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field strengthens your application and supports H-1B specialty occupation classification. Prior experience in a clinical or hospital administrative environment is frequently preferred over general office backgrounds.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for an Administrative Assistant offer at Indiana University Health?
For H-1B, standard USCIS processing runs several months, with premium processing reducing that to 15 business days. If you are on F-1 OPT, you can start work while an H-1B petition is pending under the cap-gap rule if your OPT expires before October 1. For Green Card sponsorship via PERM, expect the DOL labor certification stage alone to add a year or more to the overall timeline.
