Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Registered Nurse Jobs at Indiana University Health Jobs
Get your credentials evaluated before applying
IU Health requires state licensure, so start a credential evaluation through a CGFNS-recognized service early. Indiana's State Nursing Board processes international applicants, and delays here can push back your entire sponsorship timeline by months.
Target units with persistent hiring demand
IU Health's larger campuses, including Methodist and University Hospital in Indianapolis, consistently post Registered Nurse openings across ICU, med-surg, and ED units. Focusing your applications on high-volume departments improves your chances of landing a role open to sponsorship.
Ask directly about EB-3 sponsorship during interviews
IU Health sponsors both H-1B and employment-based Green Cards. For nurses, EB-3 is the most common permanent residence pathway. Confirm early in the offer stage whether the specific unit or recruiter is set up to initiate PERM labor certification.
Understand the H-1B cap timing for nursing roles
Registered Nurse positions qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B, but cap-subject petitions are tied to USCIS's April lottery window. If you're hired outside that window, confirm whether IU Health will hold the role until your H-1B becomes effective on October 1.
Use Migrate Mate to filter IU Health RN openings by visa type
Sorting through hundreds of job postings manually makes it hard to know which roles are realistically open to sponsorship. Migrate Mate lets you filter Registered Nurse roles at IU Health specifically by the visa types they support, saving significant research time.
Confirm TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
Registered Nurses from Canada or Mexico may qualify for TN status, which has no annual cap and no lottery. IU Health sponsors TN visas for nursing roles, and the process is significantly faster than H-1B, often resolved at the port of entry or within weeks through USCIS.

Find Registered Nurse at Indiana University Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Indiana University Health sponsor H-1B visas for Registered Nurses?
Yes, Indiana University Health sponsors H-1B visas for Registered Nurse positions. Because RN roles qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria, IU Health can file H-1B petitions on behalf of qualified candidates. Cap-subject petitions follow the annual April lottery, with employment starting October 1 if selected. Nurses already holding H-1B status with another employer may be eligible for a faster transfer.
How do I apply for Registered Nurse jobs at Indiana University Health?
Applications go through IU Health's careers portal at iuhealth.org/careers. Search by role and location, then apply directly to the posting. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse IU Health Registered Nurse openings filtered by visa sponsorship type, which helps you identify which specific roles and campuses are actively open to international candidates before you apply.
Which visa types does Indiana University Health sponsor for Registered Nurses?
IU Health sponsors H-1B visas for temporary work authorization and supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for permanent residence, with EB-3 being the most common route for nurses. Canadian and Mexican citizens may qualify for TN status, which is faster and cap-exempt. IU Health also works with candidates on F-1 OPT and CPT, typically for nurses in their final clinical stages.
What qualifications does Indiana University Health expect for sponsored Registered Nurse roles?
IU Health expects candidates to hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an Associate Degree in Nursing, with BSN increasingly preferred for hospital settings. You'll need a valid Indiana RN license or proof of active application. International graduates must complete a CGFNS credential evaluation and pass the NCLEX-RN. Specialty units like ICU and ED may also require relevant clinical experience beyond initial licensure.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Registered Nurse at Indiana University Health?
Timeline varies by visa type. H-1B processing runs six to nine months from filing to start date when accounting for the April lottery and October 1 effective date. TN status for Canadian or Mexican nurses can be secured within days to a few weeks. EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM labor certification typically takes two to four years from initiation to approval, depending on your country of birth and the DOL backlog.
