Document your clinical physics credentials early
Board certification from the American Board of Radiology or equivalent is a threshold requirement for most medical physicist roles at Indiana University Health. Have your credentials evaluated and translated before applications open, since credentialing delays are the most common bottleneck.
Target roles tied to specific modalities
Indiana University Health staffs physicists across radiation oncology, diagnostic imaging, and nuclear medicine. Applying to postings that match your subspecialty, such as MR physics or radiation therapy planning, significantly improves your chances of reaching the sponsorship conversation.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Physics openings by sponsorship status
Migrate Mate lets you browse Physics positions at Indiana University Health filtered by the visa types the organization actively sponsors, so you're not spending time on roles that won't support your situation.
Clarify TN eligibility before negotiating your offer
Canadian and Mexican nationals qualifying as physicists under the USMCA professional list can pursue TN status without waiting on USCIS adjudication. Confirm with the recruiting team early whether they'll support TN, since the process differs significantly from an H-1B petition.
Request H-1B filing timelines at the offer stage
Ask the hiring team when they plan to submit your H-1B petition to USCIS relative to the April 1 cap-subject filing window. If you're already in F-1 OPT status, confirm whether your start date aligns with your EAD expiration and any applicable grace periods.
Prepare your PERM documentation for permanent residency pathways
Indiana University Health sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 for Physics roles, which requires a PERM labor certification filed with DOL. Gather employment history, degree transcripts, and any prior visa approvals early, as the PERM recruitment and audit period can extend the overall Green Card timeline by months.

Find Physics at Indiana University Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Indiana University Health sponsor H-1B visas for Physics roles?
Yes, Indiana University Health sponsors H-1B visas for Physics positions. The organization works with medical physicists and related professionals who require sponsorship, and the H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant pathway used for these roles. You'll need to coordinate with the HR or immigration team on petition timing relative to the annual USCIS cap and filing window.
How do I apply for Physics jobs at Indiana University Health?
Positions are posted through Indiana University Health's careers portal. Search by department or role type, such as medical physicist or radiation physicist, and review each posting for sponsorship eligibility. Migrate Mate aggregates Indiana University Health Physics openings and filters by visa type, which helps you identify the right postings before applying directly through the employer.
Which visa types does Indiana University Health commonly use for Physics roles?
Indiana University Health sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and permanent residency pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Physics professionals. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose physics specialty qualifies under USMCA. F-1 OPT or CPT can support early-career physicists completing clinical training before a long-term visa petition is filed.
What qualifications does Indiana University Health expect for Physics positions?
Most clinical medical physicist roles require a graduate degree, typically a master's or doctorate in medical physics or a closely related field. Board eligibility or certification through the American Board of Radiology is frequently required or strongly preferred for patient-facing positions. Research-focused Physics roles may prioritize publication records and experience with specific imaging or therapy modalities over clinical certification.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for Physics hires at Indiana University Health?
Timelines depend on the visa category. H-1B processing through USCIS takes three to six months under standard service, or two to four weeks with premium processing. PERM labor certification for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship can take one to two years or longer before the I-140 petition is filed. Starting the conversation with Indiana University Health's HR team at the offer stage gives you the clearest picture of where your case fits.
