Job Summary
As the Sr. Director of Product Partnerships, you will lead the strategic expansion of our Cloud Security (SASE, Prisma Browser, CDSS and SCM) businesses through high impact technical partnerships. This is not a traditional ecosystem role; you are a strategic product leader who sits within the Product Management organization to identify, negotiate, and execute partnerships that accelerate the product strategy and drive growth. You will be the primary architect for scaling our Cloud Security (SASE, Prisma Browser, CDSS and SCM) offerings through third-party integrations, acting as a proactive force that tells the product team where the market is moving and which partners will get us there first.
Key Responsibilities
- Define Technical Partnership Strategy: Architect a comprehensive technical partnership strategy that is directly aligned with the broader Cloud Security product strategy, ensuring ecosystem investments accelerate core product roadmaps.
- Lead Technical Business Development: Proactively identify and hunt for partners that accelerate SASE growth, specifically focusing on high-volume SMB scaling opportunities.
- Own the Deal Lifecycle: Drive partnerships from initial outreach and business case development through legal paperwork, technical scoping, and final execution.
- Architect Product Use-Cases: Translate partnership potential into concrete technical use-cases and product requirements, ensuring every deal has a clear path to integration and revenue.
- Drive SMB Growth Aspirations: Execute on executive mandates to scale the SMB segment by building a frictionless partner engine that increases market reach and product discovery.
- Act as a Strategic Product Advisor: Partner with the VP of Product and C-level executives to recommend specific partnership investments that will unlock new ARR and competitive advantages.
- Ensure Seamless Execution: Lead the hand-off from "deal signed" to "product reality," working with core PMs and engineering to ensure partner commitments are delivered and scaled.
- Direct High-Level Negotiations: Navigate complex business and technical trade-offs with partner CTOs and Heads of Product to align long-term roadmaps.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in Technical Business Development, Product Management, or Strategic Alliances within the Cybersecurity or Networking space.
- Strong Technical Fluency: Ability to lead deep-dive architectural conversations and "speak the language" of both sales leaders and product engineers.
- Proven SMB Track Record: Demonstrated success in building or managing partnerships specifically designed to scale high-volume, mid-market, or SMB customer segments.
- Execution Excellence: A proven "closer" who has personally moved deals from white-space identification to signed contracts and launched integrations.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to proactively identify market shifts and provide data-driven recommendations to leadership on "where to play and how to win."
- Executive Presence: Experience negotiating with and influencing C-suite stakeholders at global technology firms and internal executive leadership.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Ability to be "scrappy" and operate with a start-up mentality to achieve outsized results within a large-scale organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Product Management Background: Previous experience as a PM or technical leader is highly desirable to ensure deep alignment with the SASE product org.
- SASE & Cloud Expertise: Deep understanding of the SASE ecosystem, including SD-WAN, SSE, and browser-based security.
- Marketplace Savvy: Experience leveraging cloud or SaaS marketplaces as a primary vehicle for SMB customer acquisition.
- Technical Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Align your portfolio to security platform work
Palo Alto Networks hires Product Software Engineers to build and scale security platforms, not general SaaS tools. Showcase projects involving cloud-native infrastructure, API security, or threat detection pipelines to match what their hiring teams are actively looking for.
Confirm visa type eligibility before applying
Palo Alto Networks sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT for Product Software Engineers. Knowing which category fits your nationality and status lets you ask informed questions during recruiter screens instead of raising uncertainty about your situation late in the process.
Target teams that run active immigration filings
Within Palo Alto Networks, product engineering teams tied to Prisma Cloud, Cortex XDR, and XSIAM have historically had consistent hiring volume. Researching which product lines are growing helps you direct applications toward teams with open headcount and active sponsorship budgets.
Time your OPT application to avoid gaps
If you're on F-1 OPT, file your USCIS OPT extension request at least 90 days before your current authorization expires. Palo Alto Networks requires continuous work authorization, so an authorization gap between OPT and an H-1B approval can complicate or delay your start date.
Get your specialty occupation documentation ready early
For H-1B or E-3 petitions at Palo Alto Networks, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field. Have official degree transcripts, translated credentials, and a credential evaluation from a NACES-recognized body prepared before your offer stage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Palo Alto Networks sponsor H-1B visas for Product Software Engineers?
Yes, Palo Alto Networks sponsors H-1B visas for Product Software Engineers. The company participates in the annual H-1B lottery each April, and Product Software Engineering is among the functions that regularly receive sponsorship. Because H-1B selection is subject to the lottery, some candidates at Palo Alto Networks also explore the E-3 or TN visa as alternatives depending on their nationality.
How do I apply for Product Software Engineer jobs at Palo Alto Networks?
Applications go through the Palo Alto Networks careers portal. Roles are typically posted by product area, so searching by team names like Prisma, Cortex, or XSIAM narrows results to active openings. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse verified visa-sponsored Product Software Engineer openings at Palo Alto Networks directly, which filters out roles that don't support international candidates.
Which visa types does Palo Alto Networks commonly use for Product Software Engineers?
Palo Alto Networks sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Cards for Product Software Engineers. H-1B is the most common path for non-Australian, non-Canadian nationals. Australian citizens typically use the E-3, while Canadian and Mexican nationals often qualify for TN status. Green Card sponsorship through PERM is generally available after an initial period in role.
What qualifications does Palo Alto Networks expect for Product Software Engineer roles?
Most Product Software Engineer roles at Palo Alto Networks require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field. Hands-on experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, and security-adjacent tooling is consistently expected. For visa purposes, the degree must be in a field directly related to the job duties to satisfy the H-1B or E-3 specialty occupation requirement.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Palo Alto Networks as a Product Software Engineer?
Timeline depends on visa type. E-3 and TN status can be obtained at a U.S. consulate or port of entry within a few weeks of an offer. H-1B has a fixed April registration window with an October 1 start date, so timing your offer relative to the fiscal year matters significantly. USCIS premium processing for H-1B petitions is available and reduces adjudication to 15 business days once filed.
