Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Maintenance Jobs at Targa Resources Jobs
Certify your credentials for pipeline safety roles
Maintenance positions at Targa often require OSHA, API, or PSM-related certifications before an offer is extended. Getting these on your resume before applying signals you're field-ready, not a training investment, which matters to midstream hiring managers.
Target Targa's midstream asset regions directly
Targa operates compressor stations, processing plants, and gathering systems across the Permian Basin, Bakken, and Gulf Coast. Filtering your job search by those operational regions surfaces the maintenance openings most likely to involve long-term staffing needs and sponsorship appetite.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open Maintenance roles
Search Migrate Mate to browse verified Maintenance openings at Targa Resources filtered by visa type. This cuts through listings that don't sponsor and surfaces roles where H-1B, OPT, or TN candidates are actively being considered.
Clarify your TN eligibility before the offer stage
Canadian and Mexican nationals in industrial or mechanical engineering roles may qualify for TN status, which doesn't require a lottery. Confirm with Targa's HR team early whether your role and degree align with a valid TN category to avoid last-minute status confusion.
Ask HR about LCA filing timelines upfront
For H-1B transfers or new petitions, Targa's HR or legal team files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can receive the I-129. Knowing this two-step sequence helps you set realistic start date expectations and avoid accepting conflicting offers.
Document field experience with specific equipment types
Targa's maintenance teams work with gas compression, heat exchangers, rotating equipment, and control systems. Listing specific platforms and machinery in your resume, not just generic maintenance experience, directly addresses what Targa's hiring leads look for in technical screening.

Find Maintenance at Targa Resources JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Targa Resources sponsor H-1B visas for Maintenance roles?
Yes, Targa Resources has sponsored H-1B visas for workers in technical and operational roles, including Maintenance functions tied to its midstream infrastructure. Sponsorship is more common for specialized positions such as rotating equipment technicians or instrumentation roles where the skill set is harder to source domestically. Confirming sponsorship intent directly with the recruiter before advancing through rounds is the most reliable approach.
Which visa types are commonly used for Maintenance jobs at Targa Resources?
H-1B is the primary visa type for skilled Maintenance professionals at Targa, particularly those in engineering-adjacent or instrumentation roles. F-1 OPT and CPT are also used, typically for recent graduates entering maintenance engineering or reliability functions. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering disciplines may pursue TN status, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely and can be processed faster.
What qualifications and experience does Targa Resources expect for Maintenance roles?
Targa typically looks for candidates with hands-on experience in midstream or upstream oil and gas environments. Familiarity with gas compression systems, rotating equipment, or instrumentation and control is a strong differentiator. Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30 or API credentials are valued. For roles requiring H-1B sponsorship, a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering is generally expected to satisfy the specialty occupation standard.
How do I apply for Maintenance jobs at Targa Resources?
Start by browsing open Maintenance positions through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you're only seeing roles where your status is viable. Once you identify a role, apply through Targa's careers portal and flag your visa situation early in the recruiter screen. Targa's HR team handles sponsorship coordination internally, so asking about LCA and I-129 filing timelines during the offer stage is appropriate and expected.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Maintenance role at Targa Resources?
For H-1B transfers from another sponsor, USCIS portability rules allow you to start working once the petition is received, not after approval. For new H-1B filings, cap-subject petitions are tied to the October 1 fiscal year start, meaning a timeline of several months from lottery selection to employment. TN status for qualifying Canadian nationals can be processed at the border or port of entry, often in a single day.
