How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Texas State University Visa Sponsorship USA
Target faculty and research roles first
Texas State University's strongest sponsorship history is in academic and research positions. Prioritize openings in departments with active research programs, these roles are most likely to come with H-1B or Green Card support from the university's international office.
Understand the academic hiring calendar
University hiring follows a predictable cycle. Faculty searches typically open in fall for the following academic year. Applying early and aligning your timeline with the university's recruitment calendar significantly improves your chances of a sponsored offer.
Engage the Office of International Affairs early
Texas State has a dedicated international affairs office that coordinates visa sponsorship. Reaching out after receiving an offer, not before, is standard practice. Understanding their internal process timeline helps you plan your start date and any required government filing windows.
Highlight credentials that align with specialty occupation standards
For H-1B sponsorship, your degree must directly relate to the role. Texas State hires across many disciplines, so ensure your application materials clearly connect your academic background to the specific position, this is what makes sponsorship straightforward for the university's HR team.
Find verified sponsorship opportunities in one place
Not every university job listing signals sponsorship willingness upfront. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, saving you from applying to roles where international candidates won't be considered.

Does Texas State University sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Texas State University sponsors H-1B visas, primarily for faculty, researchers, and specialized professional staff. The university has a consistent track record of H-1B filings and works through its Office of International Affairs to manage the process. Roles requiring a specific degree in a related field are the strongest candidates for sponsorship.
Which roles at Texas State University are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Faculty positions, postdoctoral researchers, and professional staff in academic departments with active research programs are the most common recipients of visa sponsorship at Texas State. Administrative and support roles occasionally qualify as well, but sponsorship is more consistently offered for positions requiring specialized academic credentials or technical expertise tied to a specific degree field.
What visa types does Texas State University sponsor besides H-1B?
Beyond the H-1B, Texas State University sponsors J-1 exchange visitor visas for researchers and scholars, TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professions, and Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 categories. The university also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for currently enrolled international students working in roles tied to their program of study.
How do I find open sponsored positions at Texas State University?
Migrate Mate is the most efficient way to find roles at Texas State University with a verified sponsorship history. Rather than sorting through listings that don't specify immigration support, Migrate Mate filters by confirmed sponsors so you can focus your effort on employers, including Texas State, that have a real track record of filing visas for international employees.
How do I time my application to Texas State University around H-1B sponsorship deadlines?
If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, Texas State must file your petition by late March for an October 1 start date. This means you should ideally receive and accept an offer by late January or early February to allow time for the Labor Condition Application and petition preparation. Cap-exempt positions, such as those directly affiliated with a university research function, may have more flexible timing.
