Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Nursing Assistant Jobs at University of Vermont Jobs
Verify Your Clinical Credentials Before Applying
Most Nursing Assistant roles at University of Vermont require a current Certified Nursing Assistant credential recognized in Vermont. Confirm your CNA certification transfers or obtain Vermont state endorsement before submitting applications, since credentialing gaps routinely delay or derail sponsorship timelines.
Target UVM Medical Center Affiliated Postings Directly
University of Vermont's Nursing Assistant openings often span its academic health system, not just the main campus. Filter your search to UVM Medical Center-affiliated roles, which carry stronger sponsorship precedent for clinical support staff than administrative or research-adjacent postings.
Use Migrate Mate to Track Open Nursing Assistant Roles
New Nursing Assistant positions at University of Vermont post and fill quickly. Use Migrate Mate to monitor active openings filtered by sponsorship eligibility so you're applying within the first week of a posting going live, not after the pipeline closes.
Understand Which Visa Pathways Fit Healthcare Support Roles
Nursing Assistant positions at an academic institution can support H-1B, TN, or OPT sponsorship depending on your degree field and nationality. TN classification is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying healthcare occupations, and OPT is viable if your degree field aligns with the role's specialty occupation determination.
Ask About the LCA Filing Timeline During Offer Negotiations
Before your start date is set, confirm that University of Vermont's HR team has filed the Labor Condition Application with DOL. LCA certification is required before the H-1B petition reaches USCIS, and academic employers sometimes underestimate how early this step needs to begin.
Prepare for E-Verify Clearance as a Non-Negotiable Step
University of Vermont participates in E-Verify, meaning your work authorization is confirmed through the federal system on day one of employment. Have your I-94, EAD, or visa documentation organized and current before your onboarding date to avoid employment holds during processing.

Find Nursing Assistant at University of Vermont JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does University of Vermont sponsor H-1B visas for Nursing Assistants?
Yes, University of Vermont has a track record of H-1B sponsorship that extends to clinical support roles including Nursing Assistants. Because the university operates as an academic institution, it qualifies as a cap-exempt H-1B employer, meaning petitions can be filed at any time of year without waiting for the annual lottery. This gives international candidates a meaningful structural advantage when targeting these roles.
How do I apply for Nursing Assistant jobs at University of Vermont?
Applications go through the University of Vermont's careers portal, where Nursing Assistant postings are listed under the UVM Medical Center or academic health system. Tailor your application to reflect Vermont CNA certification and any clinical experience in acute care or long-term care settings. Roles fill on a rolling basis, so applying within the first few days of a posting going live improves your chances. Migrate Mate is the recommended way to track and filter open roles by sponsorship eligibility.
Which visa types does University of Vermont commonly use for Nursing Assistant roles?
The most common pathways for Nursing Assistant roles at University of Vermont are H-1B, F-1 OPT, and TN. H-1B is the primary long-term option and benefits from the university's cap-exempt status. F-1 OPT is available to recent graduates in qualifying health science fields. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible healthcare occupations. EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa pathways are also supported for candidates seeking permanent residence.
What qualifications and experience does University of Vermont expect for Nursing Assistant candidates?
University of Vermont generally requires active Vermont CNA certification, basic life support certification, and prior experience in a clinical setting such as a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or academic medical center. Roles within the UVM Medical Center may also expect familiarity with electronic health record systems. Candidates with acute care experience tend to be more competitive for inpatient Nursing Assistant positions specifically.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Nursing Assistant role at University of Vermont?
For H-1B sponsorship, the process runs roughly three to six months from offer acceptance to approval, assuming the university files as a cap-exempt employer. The Labor Condition Application with DOL typically takes seven business days for certification. F-1 OPT candidates can start within the 90-day pre-completion window, making the timeline shorter. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the port of entry on the day of travel with the right documentation.
