Obtain ARRT Certification Before Applying
WakeMed and most U.S. hospital systems require active ARRT certification for Radiologic Technologist roles. Get your credentials verified and state licensure for North Carolina secured before you submit applications, since incomplete credentials stall sponsorship conversations.
Target Modality-Specific Openings Strategically
WakeMed posts openings across CT, MRI, and general radiography. Applying to the specific modality where you have documented clinical hours strengthens both your candidacy and the employer's ability to support an LCA with the Department of Labor.
Understand Which Visa Pathway Fits Your Situation
H-1B, TN for Canadian or Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT are all realistic paths for Radiologic Technologists at WakeMed. Each has different lead times and eligibility rules, so confirm which category applies to your citizenship before your first interview.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Active WakeMed Openings
WakeMed's Radiologic Technologist postings vary by site and shift availability. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for WakeMed roles that list visa sponsorship, so you're only pursuing positions where the employer has already indicated willingness to file.
Ask About the LCA Filing Timeline During Offer Stage
Once WakeMed extends an offer, your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting any H-1B or permanent residence petition. Confirm their HR team's typical turnaround on LCA certification so you can plan your start date accurately.
Prepare for PERM If Targeting a Green Card
WakeMed has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 green cards for clinical staff. PERM requires a prevailing wage determination and a labor market test, which can take over a year. Raise permanent residence sponsorship interest early in negotiations, not after you've already started.

Find Radiologic Technologist at WakeMed JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does WakeMed sponsor H-1B visas for Radiologic Technologists?
Yes, WakeMed has a history of sponsoring H-1B visas for Radiologic Technologists. Because H-1B requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, your ARRT certification and an applicable degree in radiologic technology or a closely related field are both important for supporting the petition. Confirm sponsorship availability directly during the offer stage, since not every individual posting will specify it upfront.
How do I apply for Radiologic Technologist jobs at WakeMed?
You can browse and apply for Radiologic Technologist openings at WakeMed through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles where visa sponsorship is available. WakeMed posts positions across multiple facilities and modalities, so filtering by role type and location helps you identify the best fit before submitting your application and credentialing documentation.
Which visa types does WakeMed commonly use for Radiologic Technologist roles?
WakeMed has sponsored H-1B visas and employment-based Green Cards including EB-2 and EB-3 categories for clinical roles. F-1 OPT and CPT are also viable for candidates currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a U.S. radiologic technology program. Canadian and Mexican nationals may be eligible for TN status, which covers certain allied health professions including technologists with the right educational credentials.
What qualifications does WakeMed expect for Radiologic Technologist candidates seeking sponsorship?
WakeMed generally expects active ARRT certification, a relevant associate's or bachelor's degree, and North Carolina state licensure or eligibility for licensure. For sponsored roles, your degree must align with the radiologic technology field to satisfy specialty occupation requirements under H-1B. Clinical experience in the specific modality you're applying for, such as CT or MRI, strengthens both the job match and the immigration petition.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing a sponsored role at WakeMed?
Timeline depends heavily on your visa category. H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year, with an April 1 filing window for an October 1 start date, so a gap between offer and start is common. TN and OPT extensions move faster. For Green Card sponsorship through PERM, expect the full process to span well over a year. Raise your preferred visa pathway in early hiring conversations so WakeMed's HR team can plan accordingly.
