Verify Your ARRT Credentials Before Applying
University of Utah requires active ARRT certification for Radiologic Technologist hires. Confirm your credential is current and transferable before submitting applications, since credential gaps can delay or complicate the employer's visa filing timeline significantly.
Target Openings in High-Volume Imaging Departments
University of Utah's academic medical center runs multiple imaging sites across outpatient clinics and hospital campuses. Roles in CT, MRI, and interventional radiology tend to have more consistent hiring cycles, which matters when you're working against OPT or grace period deadlines.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Active Openings
Radiologic Technologist postings at large university health systems open and close quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter University of Utah roles by visa sponsorship type so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed, not assumed.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope During the Offer Stage
University of Utah sponsors across several visa categories for this role, but coverage varies by department and contract type. Before signing anything, confirm in writing whether the offer includes H-1B petition costs, PERM labor certification, or only initial status maintenance.
Align Your Application Timing With the H-1B Cap
If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, you must have your offer in place by early March for the April 1 USCIS registration window. Academic medical centers like University of Utah can sponsor H-1B roles year-round, but cap-exempt status depends on your specific employing entity.
Request a TN Letter Tailored to Medical Technologist Classification
Canadian and Mexican candidates qualifying under TN status need employer documentation that maps the Radiologic Technologist role to the DOL's Medical Technologist occupation class. Ask University of Utah's HR team specifically for a TN support letter before any border or consular appointment.

Does University of Utah sponsor H-1B visas for Radiologic Technologists?
Yes, University of Utah sponsors H-1B visas for Radiologic Technologist roles. As a large academic medical institution, it files petitions across multiple visa categories for clinical staff. Whether your specific role qualifies for cap-exempt H-1B status depends on which employing entity within the university system is listed on your offer, so confirm that detail early in the process.
How do I apply for Radiologic Technologist jobs at University of Utah?
Applications go through University of Utah's official careers portal. Each posting lists the specific imaging modality, shift requirements, and department. You'll need active ARRT certification and a current state license or eligibility for Utah licensure. Migrate Mate is a reliable way to browse University of Utah Radiologic Technologist openings filtered specifically for visa sponsorship, so you're not applying blind.
Which visa types does University of Utah commonly use for Radiologic Technologist roles?
University of Utah supports several visa pathways for this role, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and J-1 for exchange visitors. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, the university has filed EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant petitions. F-1 OPT and CPT are also options for recent graduates in eligible programs.
What qualifications does University of Utah expect for Radiologic Technologist candidates?
Most postings require ARRT certification in Radiography, with additional modality certifications (CT, MRI, or fluoroscopy) preferred for specialized roles. A state of Utah radiologic technologist license, or eligibility to obtain one before your start date, is standard. Candidates with clinical experience in a hospital or academic medical setting are generally more competitive for full-time positions.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take for this role?
Timeline depends on visa type. H-1B cap filings follow an April 1 start date, so the process begins months earlier. TN status for Canadian citizens can be obtained at the border in a single day with the right documentation. PERM labor certification for Green Card sponsorship can take 12 to 24 months or longer from filing. Starting conversations with University of Utah's HR team early in the hiring process gives you the most flexibility.
