Align your credentials to U.S. academic standards
If your doctoral degree was earned outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service before applying. Yeshiva University's faculty hiring committees expect credentials presented in a format consistent with U.S. academic norms, particularly for tenure-track roles.
Target departments with active faculty searches
Yeshiva University posts faculty openings across Stern College, Yeshiva College, Cardozo School of Law, and the medical school. Each operates its own hiring calendar, so monitor each school's faculty positions page separately rather than relying on a single university-wide listing.
Clarify sponsorship intent before your on-campus interview
Academic hiring moves slowly. Raise visa sponsorship directly with the department chair or HR contact after receiving an invitation to interview, not after an offer is extended. This avoids late-stage complications if the department has budget or process constraints around H-1B filing.
Understand how J-1 and H-1B differ for faculty roles
Yeshiva University sponsors both J-1 and H-1B for faculty. The J-1 Research Scholar category suits postdoctoral or visiting roles but carries a two-year home residency requirement for some nationalities. If long-term U.S. residency is your goal, confirm whether H-1B is available for your specific position before accepting.
Account for DOL prevailing wage in offer negotiations
For H-1B sponsorship, your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying your salary meets the prevailing wage for your role and location. Negotiate your offer with this floor in mind, since Yeshiva University cannot pay below the certified wage regardless of internal budget constraints.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open Professor roles
Faculty openings at Yeshiva University that include visa sponsorship aren't always flagged clearly on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Professor roles at Yeshiva University where international candidates are welcome, so you're applying to positions with a realistic path to sponsorship.

Find Professor at Yeshiva University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Yeshiva University sponsor H-1B visas for Professors?
Yes, Yeshiva University sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Professor roles. Faculty positions that require a specific academic background and a relevant doctoral degree typically meet USCIS specialty occupation requirements. Sponsorship is more common for full-time, tenure-track, or long-term adjunct positions than for short-term or visiting appointments. Confirm the sponsorship status of a specific role with HR during the offer stage.
How do I apply for Professor jobs at Yeshiva University?
Applications for Professor positions at Yeshiva University are submitted through each school's dedicated faculty recruitment portal, since Stern College, Yeshiva College, Cardozo School of Law, and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine each manage hiring separately. A standard application includes a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research statement, teaching philosophy, and letters of recommendation. You can also browse open roles on Migrate Mate to identify which positions are open to international candidates.
Which visa types does Yeshiva University commonly sponsor for Professor roles?
Yeshiva University sponsors H-1B, J-1, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for faculty and academic staff. The J-1 Scholar category is common for visiting professors and postdoctoral researchers. The H-1B is the primary route for longer-term faculty employment. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying academic occupations. OPT and CPT are relevant for those finishing graduate programs before transitioning to full faculty roles.
What qualifications does Yeshiva University expect for Professor positions?
Most Professor roles at Yeshiva University require a terminal degree in the relevant field, typically a Ph.D., J.D. for law faculty, or M.D. for medical school positions. Research universities also expect an active publication record, grant experience, and demonstrated teaching effectiveness. For specialty areas like Judaic studies or Jewish education, familiarity with primary texts and relevant scholarly communities is a distinct advantage.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take for a new faculty hire?
The H-1B process for a new Professor hire typically takes three to six months from the time the offer is accepted, assuming the position qualifies and documentation is in order. If the university files during the annual H-1B cap period, the October 1 start date constraint adds lead time. USCIS premium processing, which expedites adjudication to 15 business days, is available but requires the employer to elect and pay for it.
