BASIS Ed is seeking a Compliance Management & Grants Specialist located at our Scottsdale Central Office or our Texas Central Office located in San Antonio, TX!
The BASIS Ed Compliance Management & Grants Specialist is primarily responsible for the facilitation of grants submissions and maintaining compliance with grant requirements, if awarded, and supporting schools in grant monitoring cycles. Responsibilities include evaluating current levels of compliance with existing systems and processes and implementing process improvements, where appropriate, to ensure compliant policies and procedures. This individual must be organized, detail oriented, have an aptitude for research, be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel, and have experience managing projects and processes from inception to completion. Under the supervision of the Managing Director of Compliance Services, this team member will interact with various departments and all levels of management in the interest of achieving Compliance department strategic objectives to aid schools in smooth and compliant operations, while embodying BASIS Ed philosophy and its value proposition.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to design and execute process improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals and overall compliance, including the creation of process documents and guidelines.
- Assist in drafting, updating and maintaining charter school policies and procedure documents pertaining to grants programming and compliance
- Work collaboratively with school leadership, School Management, and Finance & Accounting for purposes of creating and submitting grants applications and budgets, progress monitoring, and reporting.
- Work with schools to prepare grant-related comprehensive needs assessments and oversee the development of program goals and integrated action plans (IAP).
- Provide training and ongoing technical support to school personnel and central office staff on grant program and compliance requirements
- Oversee grant compliance monitoring, including liaising with state agencies to execute required monitoring activities
- Assist with evaluating and responding to public records requests and similar compliance reporting obligations for public charter schools
- Regularly collaborate with Compliance, Legal, School Management, and Finance teams as well as other internal stakeholders to determine best to support school leaders and other personnel with a wide range of compliance needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Certifications and Credentials: Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card and/or satisfactory applicable state background check
Preferred Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience working in public charter schools.
- 3+ years’ experience with federal grants management.
- 3+ years’ experience with grant writing and programmatic compliance.
- Experience working in Jira and Confluence.
