- Facilitate safety orientations for new employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
- Conduct ongoing safety training, toolbox talks, and educational programs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local regulations, as well as company safety policies.
- Review of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and site-specific safety plans.
- Monitor and document safety performance metrics, trends, and corrective actions.
- Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to proactively address safety concerns.
- Manage workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs, as applicable.
- Maintain records of inspections, incidents, training, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Participate in project planning meetings to identify and mitigate potential safety risks before work begins.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies during inspections and investigations.
- Support emergency preparedness planning and response activities.
- Recommend improvements to safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of construction safety experience, preferably in commercial, industrial, heavy civil, or specialty construction environments.
- Equivalent combination of education and construction safety experience may be considered.
- Experience conducting safety audits, investigations, and training programs.
- Knowledge of construction means, methods, and field operations.
Certifications
