Application deadline: Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis
The Amazon Web Services Professional Services team is seeking a skilled Delivery Consultant specializing in VMware to AWS migrations. In this role you will work closely with customers to design, execute, and manage large-scale VMware estate migrations to AWS, delivering measurable business outcomes across every phase of the programme lifecycle. You will be a key player in driving customer success, providing technical expertise, migration best practices, and hands-on delivery leadership from initial assessment through production cutover.
With deep expertise in VMware environments and AWS migration services, you will lead enterprise data centre exit programmes spanning multiple countries and regulatory jurisdictions. You will assess VMware workloads through discovery tooling and application owner interviews, define migration strategies and target architectures, assign R-strategies across the portfolio, and design wave plans that respect dependency groupings, capacity constraints, and regulatory frozen zones. As a trusted advisor you will guide customers through risk mitigation, architecture decisions, and the organizational change that large-scale VMware exits require.
The AWS Professional Services organization is a global team of experts that help customers realize their desired business outcomes on AWS. We work together with customer teams and the AWS Partner Network to execute enterprise cloud computing initiatives through a collection of offerings that help customers achieve specific outcomes related to cloud adoption and migration at scale.
What Makes This Role Different
VMware estates are not just infrastructure. They are the operational core of enterprise businesses built over decades. You will not be running a lift and shift. You will be designing the path from a legacy platform to a modern, cloud-native foundation, and making that transition invisible to the business. The complexity is real, the stakes are high, and the outcomes are permanent.
Key job responsibilities
Design and implement complex, scalable, and secure AWS target architectures for VMware workload migrations, covering compute, network, storage, and virtualization layers
Lead end-to-end VMware estate assessments using discovery tooling and application owner interviews, producing portfolio disposition recommendations with R-strategy assignments across rehost, replatform, refactor, retire, retain, and relocate
Define migration strategy and target architecture for VMware workloads, translating technical choices into business outcomes for executive audiences
Design and own wave plans including dependency grouping, capacity balancing, cutover sequencing, and multi-geography coordination under regulatory constraints
Apply AI-powered and agentic migration tools including AWS Transform, ModelizeIT, Kiro, and equivalent tooling to accelerate discovery, assessment, and migration execution at scale
Lead large delivery teams and matrix organizations, driving alignment across business and technology stakeholders throughout the program lifecycle
Partner with AWS Migration Services including Application Migration Service (MGN), Database Migration Service (DMS), and Migration Hub to execute migrations with precision and repeatability
Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support throughout delivery, ensuring adherence to AWS Well-Architected principles and optimizing wave sequencing to minimize risk and business disruption
Act as a trusted advisor to customers on VMware licensing optimization, infrastructure modernization, and emerging AWS capabilities relevant to their environment
Share knowledge within the organization through mentoring, training, and creating reusable migration artifacts, runbooks, and cutover playbooks that partners can execute at scale

- Deep hands-on experience with VMware environments including vSphere, vCenter, NSX, vSAN, and ESXi administration and migration

Consultant Jobs in Denver: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a consultant job in Denver?
Focus your search on Denver's strongest hiring sectors: management consulting, IT and technology services, and energy and infrastructure advisory. The Central Business District, LoDo, and the Denver Tech Center are where most firms are concentrated. Candidates who demonstrate project management experience, industry-specific credentials, and familiarity with the public-sector and federal contractor work common in Denver stand out from the field.
Which companies hire consultants in Denver?
Companies currently hiring consultants in Denver include Leidos, EF (Education First), and Deloitte, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Denver's mix of large professional services firms, regional energy companies, and government contractors creates consistent consultant demand across both public and private sectors.
Are there remote consultant jobs in Denver?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the type of consulting. Strategy, analytics, and technology advisory roles tend to be the most remote-friendly, while on-site client engagements require in-person presence. About 73% of consultant openings tied to Denver are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, with the highest remote share in IT and management consulting rather than facilities or operations roles.
How can I get a consultant job in Denver with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Denver is through analyst or associate roles at the regional offices of professional services firms or at one of the many federal contractors headquartered in the metro area. Entry-level project coordinator and junior analyst positions regularly open at technology consulting shops in the Denver Tech Center and at government-adjacent firms in the Capitol Hill corridor. A bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a quantitative field, combined with internship or co-op experience, makes candidates competitive for these roles.
Which industries hire the most consultants in Denver?
Most consultant openings in Denver sit in Consulting & Professional Services, Energy, and Staffing & Recruiting, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Denver's role as a regional hub for energy, aerospace, and federal contracting, alongside its growing technology sector, keeps demand for consultants consistently broad across both private firms and public-sector clients.
