Consultant Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a consultant in Massachusetts?
Most consultant roles in Massachusetts require at minimum a bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, or a related field, though management consulting firms in Boston typically prefer candidates with an MBA or advanced degree from a recognized institution. No state-issued license is required for most consulting work, but certifications like the Project Management Professional, Certified Management Consultant, or a relevant technical credential significantly strengthen candidacy with Massachusetts employers.
Which companies hire consultants in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring consultants in Massachusetts right now include MaxIT Consulting - Max Corporate, AT&T, and MassMutual, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts also draws hiring from a dense network of regional boutique firms, Big Four advisory practices, and life sciences and technology companies headquartered in the Greater Boston corridor.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most consultant jobs?
Boston, Chelmsford, and Springfield account for the largest share of consultant openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge dominate due to the concentration of management consulting firms, financial services companies, and major research institutions, while Worcester's growing healthcare and higher-education sectors support a steady pipeline of advisory and operational consulting roles.
Are there remote consultant jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 70% of consultant openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on analysis, strategy, and client communication rather than on-site presence. Strategy, IT, and financial consulting roles are the most likely to offer fully remote or hybrid arrangements, while implementation and operational consulting often requires regular client site visits.
How can I get hired as a consultant in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to analyst or associate programs at the large consulting firms with Boston offices, where structured rotational programs are designed for recent graduates. Firms like Deloitte and Accenture run formal new-associate onboarding cohorts each year in Massachusetts. Candidates transitioning from adjacent roles in project coordination, financial analysis, or business operations also move in regularly, and earning a certification such as PMP or a data analytics credential helps distinguish an application without prior consulting experience.
Where can I find and apply to consultant jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to consultant jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current Massachusetts openings updated in real time. Search the roles that fit your specialty and experience level and apply directly to the ones that match.
