Cybersecurity Manager Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cybersecurity manager in North Carolina?
The concrete path in North Carolina is to combine a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity or information technology with professional certifications such as CISSP or CISM, both of which are widely required by North Carolina employers. North Carolina does not issue a state-specific cybersecurity license, so the hiring path centers on building a record in security analyst or engineer roles, then stepping into team leadership within a defense contractor, financial institution, or large healthcare system in the Raleigh or Charlotte area.
How much do cybersecurity managers make in North Carolina?
Cybersecurity managers in North Carolina earn a median of about $131,540 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,150 for the lowest 10% to over $173,670 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cybersecurity managers in North Carolina?
Employers hiring cybersecurity managers in North Carolina right now include Dentsply Sirona, Advance Auto Parts, and Hayward Industries, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. North Carolina's concentration of defense contractors in the Raleigh area and major financial institutions in Charlotte means hiring activity in this role remains consistent even outside peak recruiting seasons.
Which North Carolina cities have the most cybersecurity manager jobs?
Charlotte, Durham, and Raleigh account for the most cybersecurity manager openings in North Carolina. Raleigh and the broader Research Triangle anchor the largest share of demand through its dense cluster of federal contractors, technology firms, and state government agencies, while Charlotte drives openings through its position as a major financial services hub with large banks and payment processors headquartered there.
Are there remote cybersecurity manager jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, and more than most fields, since cybersecurity management is fundamentally an analytical and policy-driven role that translates well to distributed work. About 100% of cybersecurity manager openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting broad employer acceptance of flexible arrangements. Policy development, risk assessment, vendor oversight, and compliance reporting are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely, while hands-on security operations center management tends to require at least some on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a cybersecurity manager in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a security analyst or IT risk analyst role, which large North Carolina employers in financial services and healthcare regularly use as the pipeline into management. Bank of America and Fidelity in Charlotte, and state agencies under the North Carolina Department of Information Technology in Raleigh, run rotational and associate programs that develop early-career security professionals toward leadership. Earning a CompTIA Security+ or CySA+ certification and building a portfolio around a specific compliance framework like NIST or HIPAA gives candidates a concrete edge when applying for those roles.
Where can I find and apply to cybersecurity manager jobs in North Carolina?
You can find and apply to cybersecurity manager jobs in North Carolina on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state updated in real time. Find roles that match your experience and the North Carolina metro you are targeting, then apply directly through each listing without any additional steps required.
