Dermatologist Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a dermatologist in Massachusetts?
To practice as a dermatologist in Massachusetts, you must hold an active medical license issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, which requires completion of an accredited medical school, a dermatology residency, and passing USMLE or COMLEX exams. Most employers also expect board certification from the American Board of Dermatology. Fellowship training in a subspecialty such as Mohs surgery or pediatric dermatology strengthens your candidacy at Massachusetts academic and specialty practices.
Which companies hire dermatologists in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring dermatologists in Massachusetts right now include Optum, Integrated Dermatology, and Cambridge Health Alliance, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of academic medical centers and large integrated health systems means many openings are tied to multi-site practices and hospital-affiliated outpatient dermatology departments across the state.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most dermatologist jobs?
Quincy, Worcester, and Milford account for the most dermatologist openings in Massachusetts. Boston leads because of its dense cluster of academic medical centers and specialty practices, while Worcester's concentration around UMass Memorial Health and other regional systems drives demand there, and Springfield draws openings from Baystate Health and the Pioneer Valley's growing outpatient network.
Are there remote dermatologist jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of dermatologist openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the hands-on clinical nature of most dermatology work. The roles most likely to include remote components are teledermatology consultations, store-and-forward image review positions, and administrative or medical director roles that combine clinical oversight with virtual patient triage.
How can I get hired as a dermatologist in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to dermatology residency programs affiliated with Massachusetts teaching hospitals, such as those connected to Mass General Brigham or Boston Medical Center, which provide the supervised clinical experience employers require. New graduates who have completed residency but lack attending experience should target associate dermatologist roles at multi-site outpatient groups, which often run structured onboarding for early-career physicians. Holding an active Massachusetts medical license and, if applicable, a Mohs surgery fellowship certificate meaningfully strengthens applications at specialty practices.
Where can I find and apply to dermatologist jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to dermatologist jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current Massachusetts openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your credentials and preferred location, and apply directly to the employer through each listing.
