Dermatologist Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a dermatologist in Washington?
To practice as a dermatologist in Washington, you must hold an active medical license issued by the Washington Medical Quality Assurance Commission, which requires graduation from an accredited medical school, completion of a dermatology residency, and passage of the USMLE or COMLEX licensing exams. Most Washington employers also expect board certification through the American Board of Dermatology. The commission oversees initial licensure, renewals, and any specialty endorsements relevant to practice in the state.
How much do dermatologists make in Washington?
Dermatologists in Washington earn a median of about $526,170 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $98,650 for the lowest 10% to over $672,840 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire dermatologists in Washington?
Employers hiring dermatologists in Washington right now include Dane Street, PeaceHealth, and Jefferson Healthcare, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Washington's mix of large academic health systems, regional multi-specialty groups, and independent dermatology practices creates consistent demand across both urban and suburban markets throughout the state.
Which Washington cities have the most dermatologist jobs?
Renton, Tacoma, and Everett are the Washington cities with the most dermatologist openings, reflecting the concentration of major health systems, dense patient populations, and specialty referral networks in the greater Puget Sound region, while Spokane anchors demand in eastern Washington as the hub for inland regional medical care.
Are there remote dermatologist jobs in Washington?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of dermatologist openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, since most dermatology work requires in-person patient examination and procedures. The portions of the role most suited to remote work include teledermatology consultations and follow-up visits, which some larger Washington health systems have integrated into their care models.
How can I get hired as a dermatologist in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a dermatology residency and then applying directly to associate dermatologist or staff physician roles at Washington health systems that run structured onboarding for new attendings, such as UW Medicine or MultiCare. Some organizations offer locum or part-time positions that transition into full-time roles. Candidates coming from internal medicine or family practice backgrounds can pursue lateral moves into teledermatology or general derm roles while building procedural experience. Holding an active Washington Medical Quality Assurance Commission license and any fellowship training gives early-career applicants a clear competitive edge.
Where can I find and apply to dermatologist jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to dermatologist jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current Washington openings across health systems, group practices, and specialty clinics throughout the state. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly to each one.
