Territory Manager / Business Development – Flooring Distribution

About the Opportunity
A large Houston flooring distributor is seeking a motivated Territory Manager / Outside Sales Representative to grow existing accounts and develop new business throughout the Houston market.
We offer locally stocked carpet, hard surface flooring, commercial flooring products, sundries, and installation tools. Our customers include flooring retailers, builders, contractors, and restoration companies.
This position is ideal for a relationship-driven sales professional who understands the value of local inventory, responsive service, and dependable follow-through.
Responsibilities
- Manage and grow an assigned sales territory through regular customer visits and consistent follow-up.
- Identify and develop new business with flooring retailers, builders, contractors, and restoration companies.
- Build strong relationships with business owners, buyers, project managers, and other decision-makers.
- Present flooring products, samples, pricing, and promotions.
- Help customers select products that meet their project requirements, budgets, and timelines.
- Prepare quotes and follow up on opportunities to earn business.
- Coordinate with customer service, warehouse, and delivery teams to support accurate orders and timely fulfillment.
- Stay informed about competitor activity, market conditions, and customer needs.
- Maintain organized account information and sales activity records.
- Take ownership of customer concerns and work with the team to resolve them.
Qualifications
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
- Ability to prospect, develop accounts, and close sales.
- Self-motivated and organized, with effective territory and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and opportunities independently.
- Comfortable discussing pricing, product features, availability, and project needs.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly throughout the Houston area.
Preferred Experience
- Outside sales experience in flooring, distribution, building materials, or a related industry.
- Existing relationships with Houston-area flooring retailers, builders, contractors, or restoration companies.
- Familiarity with carpet, hard surface flooring, commercial flooring, sundries, or installation tools.
