Can You Find What Others Can't—and Build Relationships Others Don't Have?
ASC Global is searching for an exceptional Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Development Specialist who combines the instincts of a researcher, the persistence of a hunter, the judgment of a negotiator, and the relationship-building ability of a true business developer.
This is not a traditional purchasing job.
We are not looking for someone whose primary experience is routine PO processing, production scheduling, or repetitive manufacturing procurement.
We are looking for someone who can search the world for difficult-to-find products, uncover new sources of supply, cold-call potential suppliers, qualify vendors, assess risk, negotiate opportunities, and build long-term global relationships that create a competitive advantage.
When a customer needs a difficult electronic component, aviation part, aerospace product, industrial item, or MRO product, we need someone whose first instinct is:
"I'll find it."
Your Mission
Your mission will be to expand ASC Global's worldwide supply network and solve difficult sourcing challenges.
You will:
- Identify, research, contact, and qualify new suppliers around the world.
- Develop long-term relationships with manufacturers, authorized distributors, independent distributors, brokers, aviation suppliers, aerospace suppliers, MRO distributors, industrial distributors, and specialized technical sources.
- Source hard-to-find, obsolete, allocated, discontinued, and long-lead-time electronic components.
- Source aviation, aerospace, industrial automation, and MRO products.
- Research manufacturers, distributors, excess inventories, surplus stock, and alternative sources of supply.
- Proactively cold-call potential suppliers and build relationships from scratch.
- Identify decision-makers and create new business relationships across countries and cultures.
- Request, analyze, and compare supplier quotations.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, minimum quantities, and other commercial conditions.
- Verify supplier credentials, traceability, certifications, quality documentation, and product authenticity.
- Assess supplier capabilities, reliability, quality, compliance, and commercial risk.
- Work closely with our sales team to fulfill customer RFQs quickly and competitively.
- Maintain accurate supplier information and strengthen our approved supplier network.
- Monitor shortages, allocation, obsolescence, market pricing, supply-chain disruptions, and emerging opportunities.
- Build strategic supplier relationships that create lasting value for ASC Global and our customers.
What Makes Someone Exceptional in This Role?
You don't stop at the first search result.
You don't send one email and wait.
You don't accept "no stock" as the end of the conversation.
You research deeper. You make calls. You ask questions. You find new contacts. You investigate alternative channels. You build trust. You negotiate. And you keep going until you've exhausted every intelligent possibility.
You understand that great sourcing is a combination of research, relationships, market intelligence, persistence, judgment, negotiation, and speed.
The Background We're Looking For
The ideal candidate has 3–10+ years of relevant experience and comes from one or more of the following industries:
- Electronic component distribution.
- Semiconductor distribution.
- Independent distribution or brokerage.
- Aviation parts supply.
- Aerospace supply.
- MRO distribution.
- Industrial automation.
- Defense contracting.
- Telecommunications equipment.
- Technical product distribution.
A bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Skills That Matter
We're looking for someone with:
- Exceptional research and investigative abilities.
- Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
- Excellent relationship-building capabilities.
- Confidence cold-calling and developing new suppliers globally.
- The ability to qualify suppliers and assess quality, traceability, authenticity, and risk.
- Strong knowledge of Excel and ERP/CRM systems.
- Exceptional organization and follow-through.
- The persistence to keep searching when easy answers don't exist.
- The judgment to balance speed, price, quality, reliability, and risk.
- The communication skills to build trusted relationships across cultures and geographies.

To be completely clear, this role is not primarily focused on:
- Routine purchase order processing.
- Production scheduling.
- Repetitive manufacturing procurement.
- Administrative purchasing tasks.
- Simply buying from an established list of existing vendors.
The focus is strategic sourcing, supplier discovery, global vendor development, market research, negotiation, supplier qualification, risk assessment, and solving difficult sourcing challenges.

This is an opportunity to use your intelligence, creativity, persistence, global market knowledge, relationship-building ability, and commercial judgment every day.
We value people who take ownership.
People who are curious.
People who make the call.
People who search beyond the obvious.
People who don't give up easily.
And people who know that in global sourcing, the difference between "impossible" and "found it" is often one more search, one more phone call, or one more relationship.
If you're the person others call when they can't find the part, can't find the supplier, or can't solve the sourcing challenge, we want to meet you.
Apply today and show us how you find what others can't.

Tips for Your Director of Strategic Sourcing Job Search
Quantify savings in dollar terms
Hiring managers for this role want to see hard numbers. Replace vague achievements like 'reduced costs' with specific figures: total spend managed, year-over-year savings delivered, and contract cycle time reductions you drove across key categories.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists director of strategic sourcing openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Get your CPM or CPSM credential current
Many postings at this level explicitly favor candidates with a Certified Professional in Supply Management or Certified Purchasing Manager credential. If yours has lapsed or you are mid-process, note your expected completion date clearly on your resume and in applications.
Prepare a sourcing transformation case study
Interviewers at the director level routinely ask you to walk through a full strategic sourcing initiative from scope to execution. Prepare one detailed example covering stakeholder alignment, RFP design, supplier evaluation criteria, negotiation approach, and measured outcomes.
Negotiate title and scope, not just compensation
At the director level, the number of direct reports, total spend under management, and reporting line into CPO or CFO significantly affect your career trajectory. Before accepting an offer, clarify those structural details alongside any compensation conversation.
Director of Strategic Sourcing Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most director of strategic sourcings?
The companies hiring the most director of strategic sourcings right now include Amazon, JLL, and Zoox, with the largest share of openings in California, Texas, and Illinois, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Healthcare systems, large manufacturers, and Fortune 500 retailers consistently post the highest volume of openings at this level.
How many director of strategic sourcing jobs are remote?
About 52% of director of strategic sourcing openings are fully remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with remote work most common in indirect procurement, IT sourcing, and professional services categories where supplier relationships are managed digitally rather than on-site.
How do you become a director of strategic sourcing?
Most people reach this role by building several years of hands-on sourcing or procurement experience, progressing through analyst and manager roles, and demonstrating ownership of a full sourcing cycle from supplier identification through contract execution. Earning a recognized credential such as a CPSM, developing deep expertise in one or two spend categories, and gaining cross-functional project leadership experience with finance and operations teams are the steps that most consistently lead to director-level consideration.
Can you get hired as a director of strategic sourcing with limited experience?
Candidates with fewer years in procurement can move into director roles by demonstrating exceptional depth in a high-priority category, coming from a direct industry match, or transitioning from a management consulting background where sourcing transformation work is central. Companies rebuilding a procurement function or launching a new category sometimes hire candidates who are slightly less tenured but bring a specific expertise the team currently lacks, so targeting those situations is a more realistic path than competing for established programs.
What does the director of strategic sourcing interview process look like?
The process typically begins with a recruiter screen focused on your spend management background and category experience, followed by a structured panel interview with procurement leadership, finance stakeholders, and often a cross-functional business partner. Most companies at this level include a case study or presentation exercise where you walk through a sourcing strategy for a specific category. Final-round conversations usually involve a discussion with the CPO or CFO about strategic priorities and your leadership approach.
Where can I find and apply to director of strategic sourcing jobs?
You can find and apply to director of strategic sourcing jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Find roles that match your category background and experience level, then apply directly to each listing.
