Verify your degree field matches the role
E-3 visa specialty occupation requires a direct connection between your degree and the Account Manager role. A business, marketing, or communications degree supports most applications. A degree in an unrelated field can trigger an RFE, so confirm the match before applying.
Target employers familiar with DOL Labor Condition Applications
Companies that have filed LCAs before move faster and make fewer errors. Ask during interviews whether HR has filed LCAs for E-3 or H-1B candidates before, not just whether they sponsor visas generally.
Frame your pitch around E-3 specifics
Many U.S. hiring managers confuse E-3 with H-1B and assume a lottery is involved. Clarify upfront that E-3 has no cap or lottery, that the LCA filing is the employer's main obligation, and that consulate processing is handled by you in Australia.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. This reduces back-and-forth with HR and gets your consulate appointment scheduled without delays from document errors.
Align your start date with LCA processing time
The DOL typically certifies an LCA within seven business days, but your consulate appointment adds lead time on top of that. Build at least four to six weeks between your offer acceptance and your proposed start date when negotiating with your employer.
Use Migrate Mate to find Account Manager roles with sponsorship
Search Migrate Mate to filter Account Manager positions where employers have confirmed E-3 sponsorship willingness. This cuts the time spent cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with Australian visa categories or unwilling to file an LCA.
E-3 Visa Account Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Account Manager jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search. It filters Account Manager roles by employers who have confirmed E-3 sponsorship, so you're not wasting applications on companies unfamiliar with the visa or unwilling to file an LCA. General job boards don't filter by visa type, which makes the process significantly slower for Australian applicants.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. The U.S. government visa fee ($315 as of May 2026, paid directly to the State Department) is separate.
Does an Account Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It can, but the qualification depends on how the role is defined. The position must require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business, marketing, or a related discipline. Roles titled Account Manager that accept any degree or no degree at all won't qualify. Reviewing the job description carefully before applying matters here.
How does the E-3 compare to H-1B for Account Manager roles?
The E-3 visa has no lottery, no cap, and no comparable employer fee. The H-1B (as of FY2026) uses a wage-weighted lottery favoring higher-paying roles, and employers pay $100,000 per petition. For Australian Account Managers, the E-3 is the faster, cheaper, and more flexible route.
Can I change employers after starting work on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but each employer change requires a new LCA and a new visa stamp if your current stamp has expired. Unlike H-1B portability rules, E-3 does not allow you to start work with a new employer simply by filing a transfer petition. You'll need your new employer to complete the LCA process and, in most cases, you'll attend a fresh consulate appointment.
