Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Animal Care Technician
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees in animal science or biology are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees, but get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member agency before applying so employers have documentation ready for the LCA filing.
Target institutions with established research programs
Zoos accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, university veterinary schools, and NIH-funded research facilities hire Animal Care Technicians regularly and have HR teams familiar with employment-based visa sponsorship processes.
Search verified E-3 sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Animal Care Technician openings by employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications before, cutting out roles where you'd be educating HR from scratch about E-3 requirements.
Clarify the degree requirement before accepting an offer
Some Animal Care Technician postings list a bachelor's degree as preferred rather than required. The E-3 specialty occupation standard requires the degree to be genuinely mandatory for the role, so confirm this in writing with your employer before the LCA is filed with DOL.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and consulate prep
The LCA must be certified by DOL before you can schedule your consulate appointment in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from offer to consulate appointment, so nothing stalls between steps.
Bring USCIS-ready documentation to your visa interview
Your consulate officer will verify the specialty occupation claim directly. Bring your employer support letter, the certified LCA, and your academic transcripts together so the officer can confirm your qualifications match the stated role requirements without requesting additional evidence.

Find Animal Care Technician JobsAnimal Care Technician E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Animal Care Technician jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Animal Care Technician roles filtered by employers with E-3 or LCA filing history. Most general job boards don't surface visa sponsorship data, so you can't tell whether an employer has sponsored before. Migrate Mate surfaces that history upfront, so you focus your applications on employers already set up to support your E-3.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Animal Care Technician role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3 purposes?
It can, but the role must genuinely require a bachelor's degree in a specific field like animal science, biology, or veterinary technology as a minimum entry requirement. Positions in research institutions, accredited zoos, or university veterinary programs are more likely to meet the specialty occupation standard than general shelter or kennel roles, where a degree is rarely mandatory.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian Animal Care Technicians?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens and has no lottery, no annual cap, and no registration fee. The H-1B involves a randomised lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate and a March registration window. For an Australian professional, the E-3 is a direct path: once you have a qualifying offer and a certified LCA from DOL, you proceed straight to a consulate appointment.
Can I change employers after arriving in the U.S. on an E-3?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp before or at the time you start the new role. Unlike some visa types, the E-3 isn't portable mid-status, so coordinate timing carefully with both your departing and incoming employer to avoid any gap in authorised employment.
