E-3 Visa Clinical Assistant Jobs
Clinical Assistant roles in U.S. hospitals and outpatient clinics qualify as E-3 specialty occupations when the position requires a bachelor's degree in a health science or related field. Australian-trained clinical assistants can secure E-3 visa sponsorship without competing in the H-1B lottery, and the visa renews in two-year increments with no cap.

Verify your degree meets specialty occupation
USCIS requires the Clinical Assistant role to normally require a bachelor's degree in a specific field. If your Australian degree is in health science, allied health, or biomedical science, confirm it maps to the job description before applying.
Target healthcare systems with LCA filing history
Large hospital networks and university health systems file LCAs regularly and have HR teams familiar with the process. Search DOL's Foreign Labor Application Gateway to identify employers who have certified LCAs for clinical roles in your target city.
Find E-3 sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to identify employers actively sponsoring clinical roles and manage your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end, from offer letter through consulate appointment.
Address your three-year Australian degree proactively
Australian bachelor's degrees run three years, not four. USCIS generally accepts them as equivalent, but your employer's HR team may flag the difference. A credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator removes that objection before the LCA is filed.
Negotiate LCA filing into your offer timeline
Your employer must file and receive a certified LCA from DOL before your consulate appointment. DOL targets seven business days for LCA certification. Build that window into your start date discussion so your offer letter reflects a realistic timeline.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at your interview
The E-3 is a nonimmigrant visa, so consular officers will assess ties to Australia. Prepare specific, factual answers about your plans after your assignment ends. Property, family, and professional registrations in Australia all support your case.
E-3 Visa Clinical Assistant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Clinical Assistant jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Clinical Assistant roles at U.S. employers who have active E-3 sponsorship history. Standard job boards rarely filter by visa type, which means you spend time on roles where sponsorship is uncertain. Searching through Migrate Mate lets you focus on employers already set up to file the LCA and support your consulate application.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Clinical Assistant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. USCIS requires the position to normally require a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Clinical Assistant roles tied to health science, allied health, or clinical research generally qualify. Roles framed as administrative or support positions requiring any bachelor's degree are harder to support. The job description your employer provides matters more than the title.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Clinical Assistant roles?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply at any point in the year and start work once your visa is approved. H-1B registrations are entered into a lottery each March, and selection is not guaranteed. For Australian clinical professionals, the E-3 is the more direct path, with the same specialty occupation requirements but without the lottery risk.
Can I change Clinical Assistant employers after starting on an E-3?
Yes, but you need a new LCA certified by DOL and a new visa or change of status before you start with the new employer. Unlike H-1B portability, the E-3 does not allow you to begin working for a new employer while paperwork is pending. Plan your transition timeline around the LCA certification window, which typically runs seven business days.
