Translate your AWS or Azure certifications
U.S. hiring managers treat cloud certifications as proof of specialty occupation. Frame your AWS Solutions Architect or Azure Expert credentials alongside your degree to strengthen the E-3 visa specialty occupation case before interviews begin.
Search employers with active LCA history
Target companies that have already filed Labor Condition Applications for cloud or infrastructure roles. Prior DOL filings signal familiarity with E-3 sponsorship mechanics, which shortens the negotiation around whether they'll sponsor at all.
Find E-3 sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service filters Cloud Architect roles by employers actively sponsoring Australian nationals, so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with the visa process.
Clarify the prevailing wage tier in your offer
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing wage for your location and role level. Ask HR which wage tier they're filing under before you accept, since Level I and Level IV carry very different salary floors.
Negotiate the LCA timeline into your start date
DOL typically certifies an LCA within seven business days, but your consulate appointment adds weeks on top. Build that window into your agreed start date so you're not pressuring the employer to rush paperwork after signing.
Prepare a degree equivalency letter if needed
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted by U.S. consular officers, but if your degree is in a field adjacent to cloud architecture, a credential evaluation from a NACES-member body removes any ambiguity before your visa interview.
E-3 Visa Cloud Architect: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Cloud Architect jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Cloud Architect roles from employers with E-3 sponsorship history, so you're not filtering generic job boards by hand. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, which means any employer willing to file an LCA with the DOL can sponsor you as soon as a role is open.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Cloud Architect role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. Cloud Architect positions require at minimum a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a closely related field, which satisfies the DOL and USCIS specialty occupation standard. Roles involving multi-cloud strategy, enterprise infrastructure design, or security architecture have a well-established track record of E-3 approval.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Cloud Architect roles?
The E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens and has no lottery, so you can apply any time of year the moment you have a job offer. The H-1B visa runs an annual lottery in March and limits most applicants to one registration attempt per year. For Cloud Architects with an Australian passport, the E-3 is a direct path that bypasses lottery uncertainty entirely.
Can I switch Cloud Architect employers while on an E-3?
Yes, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. if your current stamp has expired. Some attorneys recommend leaving a buffer of several weeks between roles to allow for consulate scheduling, particularly during peak periods at Sydney or Melbourne.
