E-3 Visa Consulting Intern Jobs
Consulting Intern roles in the U.S. qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, economics, or finance. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, making it a practical path for Australian graduates entering U.S. consulting firms on two-year renewable terms.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Consulting Intern
Frame your Australian degree for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation requirement, but many U.S. hiring managers don't know that. Attach a one-paragraph credentials note to your application explaining the equivalency so sponsors aren't deterred by an unfamiliar qualification.
Target firms with established intern sponsorship infrastructure
Consulting firms that already run structured internship cohorts are far more likely to have HR and legal processes in place for E-3 filings. Ask recruiters directly whether the firm has sponsored international interns before, not just full-time hires.
Clarify the role is a specialty occupation upfront
Internships draw more scrutiny than full-time roles on E-3 applications. Prepare a brief written description linking your degree field to specific analytical or project-based duties in the role, so the LCA and visa application clearly demonstrate specialty occupation status.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for intern timelines
Consulting internships often have tight start dates. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so DOL certification and consulate scheduling align with your employer's onboarding window, not the other way around.
Confirm your employer will file the LCA before accepting
The E-3 requires the employer to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before you can apply for a visa. Get written confirmation from HR that this step is in scope for intern offers, not just permanent positions, before you accept.
Apply for your visa with a defined project scope in hand
Consular officers reviewing intern E-3 applications look for concrete evidence of legitimate employment. A signed offer letter that lists specific consulting project deliverables, not just general duties, significantly strengthens your application at the interview stage.

Find Consulting Intern JobsConsulting Intern E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Consulting Intern jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles that support E-3 visa sponsorship. Rather than filtering through generalist job boards where sponsorship details are buried or missing, Migrate Mate surfaces consulting intern opportunities from employers familiar with the E-3 process, saving you the back-and-forth of confirming sponsorship eligibility separately.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Consulting Intern role actually qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business, economics, finance, or management consulting. The key is that a degree must be a stated requirement of the role, not a preference. If the job description says 'degree preferred,' that language can undermine your E-3 application, so it's worth asking the employer to revise it to 'required' before the LCA is filed.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Consulting Intern roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian nationals and has no annual lottery, which means you can apply whenever you have a qualifying job offer rather than waiting for an April registration window. The H-1B has an 85,000-slot annual cap with a lottery selection rate well below 50% in recent years. For Australian interns, the E-3 is the more reliable path because it doesn't depend on random selection and can be processed in time for a standard intern start date.
Can I convert from a Consulting Intern E-3 to a full-time E-3 after the internship ends?
Yes. If the employer offers you a full-time consulting role, you apply for a new E-3 tied to that position rather than extending the intern visa. The process is the same: a new LCA filed with the DOL, a new DS-160, and a consulate appointment. There is no requirement to leave the country between the intern and full-time roles as long as your status remains valid throughout.
