Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Entry Level
Frame your Australian degree for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 purposes. Confirm your transcript shows a field-specific major, not a general or undeclared degree, before applying.
Target employers already filing LCAs
Search the DOL's Foreign Labor Application Gateway for Labor Condition Application filings in your target role and city. Employers with recent LCA history know the E-3 process and won't treat your visa as an obstacle.
Start the E-3 conversation before your final interview
Raising sponsorship after an offer is issued puts HR in reactive mode. Mention your E-3 status during the second-round stage so the hiring manager can loop in legal or HR before the offer letter is drafted.
Verify your role qualifies as a specialty occupation
Entry level doesn't disqualify a role, but the job description must require a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Roles posted as 'bachelor's preferred' rather than 'required' create problems at the consulate, so push your employer to tighten the language.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your first application
First-time E-3 applicants often miss LCA wage level requirements or misfiled DS-160 sections. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from offer to consulate appointment, so your first application doesn't become a learning exercise.
Negotiate a start date that accounts for consulate wait times
Entry level roles often have firm start dates tied to onboarding cohorts. Build in at least six weeks between offer acceptance and your first day to allow for LCA certification, DS-160 completion, and your consulate appointment in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth.

Find Entry Level JobsEntry Level E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find entry level jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. Most general job boards don't filter by visa type, so you end up applying to roles where the employer has never heard of the E-3. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with active sponsorship history, saving you from dead-end applications.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Can an entry level role qualify for an E-3 visa?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field related to the job duties. USCIS and consular officers assess the role, not your seniority level. A junior software engineer role requiring a computer science degree qualifies. A generalist coordinator role where any degree is acceptable likely won't.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for entry level applicants?
The H-1B requires winning a lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate for entry level applicants competing in the general pool. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so if your employer files the LCA and you attend your consulate interview, approval is the expected outcome for a qualifying role, not a chance result.
What happens to my E-3 status if I'm laid off from my first U.S. job?
Your E-3 status is tied to that specific employer. If you're let go, you have a short grace period to find a new sponsoring employer and begin a fresh E-3 application before your status lapses. USCIS does not formally define a grace period for E-3 the way it does for H-1B, so acting quickly after a layoff is critical.
