Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Equipment Technician
Align your credentials to specialty occupation requirements
USCIS requires that an Equipment Technician role involve theoretical and practical application of a specific discipline. Document that your degree, whether in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, directly maps to the technical scope of the advertised position.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for employers who have previously filed LCAs for technician or engineering roles. Prior LCA activity signals a compliance team that already understands the E-3 process.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA and paperwork
Once you have a signed offer letter, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA submission, DS-160, and consulate preparation. This keeps your employer's administrative burden minimal, which matters when you're negotiating with a hiring team unfamiliar with E-3 sponsorship.
Clarify your degree equivalency before the offer stage
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 purposes. Get a credential evaluation completed in advance so you can provide documentation immediately when an employer requests it.
Confirm your role is classified under a relevant SOC code
The LCA your employer files must reference a Standard Occupational Classification code tied to your actual duties. For equipment technician roles, relevant codes span industrial engineering technologists and electro-mechanical technicians. Misclassification can delay DOL certification.
Prepare for consulate questions on nonimmigrant intent
E-3 is a nonimmigrant visa, so consular officers will probe your ties to Australia and your intent to return. Bring documentation of financial ties, property, or family commitments to Australia alongside your employment offer and LCA.

Find Equipment Technician JobsEquipment Technician E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Equipment Technician jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Most job boards don't filter by visa type, which makes it difficult to identify which Equipment Technician roles come with genuine E-3 sponsorship. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you filter by roles and employers with active E-3 or LCA filing history so you're not guessing which companies will support your application.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Equipment Technician role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is written. Equipment Technician positions qualify when they require a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field, such as mechanical or electrical engineering, as a standard entry requirement. Roles where the degree is listed as preferred rather than required may not meet the USCIS specialty occupation threshold, so the job description wording matters significantly.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Equipment Technician roles?
The E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens and has no annual cap or lottery, so you can apply at any point in the year once you have a job offer. The H-1B is capped at 85,000 per year and subject to a randomized lottery, meaning many qualified applicants are not selected. For Australians, the E-3 is a far more reliable path to the same type of role.
Can my employer file the E-3 paperwork without a U.S. immigration lawyer?
Yes. The E-3 does not require an attorney, and the process, which involves a DOL Labor Condition Application followed by a consular interview, is more streamlined than H-1B. Employers unfamiliar with the process often hesitate, but most of the filing burden falls on their HR team and the LCA submission through DOL's FLAG system, which has a turnaround of around seven business days.
