INTRODUCTION
ARE YOU READY TO TAKE YOUR CAREER TO NEW HEIGHTS? ARE YOU SEEKING A NEW CHALLENGE IN A DYNAMIC SECTOR?
This is a very exciting and highly innovative time here at Outside.
OUR TRUE NORTH: Outside Interactive, Inc., the premier hub for active lifestyle enthusiasts, offers best-in-class content and experiences to more than 70 million of the world’s most passionate outdoor, wellness, and endurance enthusiasts every month. We inspire a broad and diverse audience to do the activities they love with greater enjoyment, inspiration, and knowledge and are dedicated to making real change in the outdoor and fitness industries.
Our mission at Outside Inc. is to actually get people outside. Our media (Outside, Backpacker, Climbing, Ski, Yoga Journal, and more), entertainment (Outside TV, Warren Miller, Outside Days), and mapping (Gaia GPS, Trailforks, and MapMyFitness) brands inspire, activate, and connect the world’s most passionate outdoor community. Subscription revenue across this portfolio is one of our most important and fastest-evolving business priorities.
We’re looking for a Director of Growth Marketing to drive subscription growth across Outside’s media platforms. This person will own our full-funnel strategy, including everything from pricing, packaging, and benefits to cross-channel acquisition campaigns and lifecycle messaging focused on educating, engaging, and converting users.
You will identify which audience segments are most likely to subscribe to which products (across media, mapping, and Outside+ bundle subscription offers), develop the strategies to convert them, and maintain the reporting framework to know what’s working. Excellent data skills, thoughtful testing plans, and a sharp understanding of the value proposition of our free and paid offer will be core ingredients to success in this role.
This person’s core mission is to increase subscription revenue and total subscribers. This is a highly collaborative role, requiring deep partnership across product, editorial, finance, audience development, and business intelligence.
This role reports to the VP Product & Growth and will manage a small team. As a player-coach, this person will be expected to lead strategy and also do the work — writing briefs, pulling data, building campaign frameworks, and presenting to senior leadership.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
Portfolio Subscription Strategy:
- Own the acquisition strategy across Outside’s media and entertainment platforms with a clear view of which audience segments are best matched to which products
- Establish and evolve channel strategy across owned channels (on-site, email, push, in-app messaging, podcasts, CTV) and test into paid marketing opportunities
- Own forecasting in partnership with finance and provide regular performance reporting to senior leadership
- Develop a strong perspective on pricing, packaging, and entry-point diversification to propose expansion and testing strategies for subscriber and revenue growth
- Partner with Business Intelligence and Product to define the data architecture needed to power dynamic, real-time acquisition experiences
- Drive the registration-first strategy to connect to subscription funnel and first party data efforts
Campaign Development & Execution:
- Lead the development of breakthrough cross-channel acquisition campaigns, from strategy through briefing, execution, and optimization
- Develop and execute an ongoing testing strategy across creative, messaging, landing pages, and channels; foster a culture of rapid iteration and evidence-based decision-making
- Ground testing efforts in behavioral, content affinity, and first-party data signals
- Partner with creative and editorial teams to develop conversion-oriented experiences that reflect Outside’s mission and each brand’s unique value proposition
- Be creative, nimble, and responsible in how you leverage AI tools throughout your workflow – from audience analysis and creative development to campaign optimization and performance synthesis
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership:
- Proactively manage and develop a small team – setting clear goals, providing consistent feedback, and building their capabilities
- Serve as the connective tissue between marketing, product, editorial, BI, and finance — ensuring subscription growth strategy is integrated into the broader business roadmap
WHAT YOU BRING
Required:
- 8+ years of growth or performance marketing experience, with a meaningful portion focused on subscription acquisition for a media brand
- Demonstrated expertise in audience segmentation, propensity modeling concepts, and data-driven campaign targeting — you are comfortable reading dashboards, writing briefs for analysts, and pressure-testing model outputs
- Proven ability to operate in a complex, multi-brand environment and align diverse stakeholders around a shared acquisition strategy
- Experience with subscription management platforms (Piano, Stripe, or similar)
- Fluency with analytics platforms (Amplitude, Tableau, or equivalent); ability to independently pull and interpret data without requiring BI support for every question
- Active, integrated use of AI tools in your day-to-day work — for strategy, analysis, creative, and reporting
- Strong written communication and executive presentation skills
- Passion for the outdoors, fitness, or active lifestyle
Bonus:
- Experience in fitness, outdoor, or lifestyle consumer brands – you understand enthusiast audiences and can translate that understanding into sharper targeting and messaging
- Experience designing or activating against propensity models or recommendation systems
- Experience with paid media channels and budget management is a nice to have

Align your credentials to specialty occupation
Your Australian bachelor's degree must directly relate to the Growth Marketing Director role. A three-year degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree, but your major should map to marketing, business, or a quantitative field your employer can defend.
Target companies with active LCA histories
Search DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for employers who have filed LCAs for marketing or growth roles. Companies with prior E-3 visa or H-1B visa filings have already built internal processes for sponsorship and are faster to move through the offer stage.
Reframe sponsorship as a straightforward employer step
Many hiring managers conflate E-3 sponsorship with the H-1B lottery process. The employer's obligation is filing an LCA with DOL, not entering a lottery. Clarifying this distinction early removes the most common objection before it stalls your offer.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for offer-to-consulate speed
Once you have an offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles your LCA submission and consulate preparation end-to-end. For Director-level roles with fast hiring timelines, a flat-fee service removes the bottleneck of coordinating between the employer's legal team and the consulate.
Negotiate your title before the LCA is certified
The LCA locks in your job title and worksite. If your employer intends to promote you or adjust your scope after you start, that requires a new LCA filing. Get the title right before DOL certifies the application so you avoid a mid-employment refiling.

E-3 Visa Growth Marketing Director: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Growth Marketing Director jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It lists Growth Marketing Director roles where employers have confirmed E-3 sponsorship, so you're not cold-applying and waiting to find out whether an employer will engage. Filter by role and visa type to see active opportunities that match your situation as an Australian professional.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Growth Marketing Director role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field like marketing, business, or a related discipline, and the employer can document that requirement. Roles where any degree will do, regardless of field, create problems. Director-level growth marketing positions typically pass this test because they require applied expertise in demand generation, analytics, or digital marketing strategy.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Growth Marketing Directors?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, which means an Australian Growth Marketing Director can receive approval year-round without competing in the H-1B selection process. The employer's core obligation is the same, filing an LCA with DOL, but the E-3 timeline is far more predictable. H-1B cap-subject petitions require lottery selection in April for an October start date. The E-3 has no such constraint.
Can I switch employers while on an E-3 as a Growth Marketing Director?
Yes, but the new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL before you start work. There's no portability rule equivalent to what exists under AC21 for H-1B holders. You can change roles at the Director level, move across companies, or shift from one marketing specialization to another, but each new employer restarts the filing process. Timing the transition so your new LCA is certified before your last day avoids a status gap.
