E-3 Visa Hospitalist Jobs
Hospitalist roles qualify as E-3 specialty occupations, requiring a medical degree and active state licensure, both of which Australian physicians typically hold. U.S. hospital systems regularly offer E-3 visa sponsorship for hospitalists because the credential requirements map cleanly to the visa's specialty occupation standard, and the unlimited renewal means you can build a long-term career without lottery risk.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Hospitalist
Verify your AMC credentials transfer correctly
U.S. hospitals require ECFMG certification and USMLE steps before they'll sponsor an E-3 visa. Confirm your Australian medical qualifications map to these standards before approaching employers, so sponsorship conversations don't stall at credentialing.
Target hospital medicine groups not solo practices
Hospitalist programs at health systems and large medical groups have dedicated HR and legal infrastructure for visa sponsorship. Independent or small private practices rarely have the administrative capacity to file an LCA and support an E-3 application.
Disclose E-3 status early in recruiter calls
Hospitalist recruiters often conflate E-3 with H-1B visa sponsorship, assuming lottery risk and multi-year lead times. Clarify upfront that the E-3 has no cap, no lottery, and can be filed after a job offer is finalized.
Use Migrate Mate to handle LCA and visa filing
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork. The DOL LCA certification must precede your consulate appointment, and errors in prevailing wage documentation are a common cause of delays for physician applicants.
Align your start date with state licensure timelines
State medical board processing varies from six weeks to six months. Structure your offer letter start date to account for both licensure approval and E-3 consulate processing, so your employer isn't left with an unfilled roster position.
Search for E-3 sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Find Hospitalist positions with confirmed E-3 sponsorship on Migrate Mate. The platform filters roles by visa type so you're only seeing employers already set up to support Australian physicians, not positions where sponsorship is uncertain.
E-3 Visa Hospitalist: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Hospitalist jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended way to search. It lists Hospitalist roles from employers with active E-3 sponsorship history, so you're not wasting time approaching hospitals that have never sponsored Australian physicians. The platform filters by visa type, role, and location so you can focus on positions that are actually viable for your status.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Hospitalist role qualify as a specialty occupation under the E-3?
Yes. Hospitalist medicine requires a medical degree as a standard entry requirement, which satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation definition. USCIS consistently treats physician roles as qualifying specialty occupations. Your ECFMG certification and active state medical license are the supporting documents that confirm the degree requirement in practice.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Hospitalist positions?
The E-3 is substantially more practical for Australian hospitalists. There's no annual cap, no lottery, and no April filing window to wait for. You can receive a job offer, complete DOL LCA certification, and attend a consulate appointment within weeks. The H-1B requires lottery selection and typically delays your start date by six to twelve months even if selected.
Can I switch hospital employers while on an E-3 as a Hospitalist?
Yes, but you need a new LCA and a new E-3 visa tied to the new employer before you start work. The E-3 is employer-specific, so you can't port between hospital systems the way some other statuses allow. Plan for two to four weeks of DOL and consulate processing before your new position begins.
