Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a HVAC Instructor
Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
HVAC trade licenses issued by Australian state bodies don't automatically satisfy U.S. employer requirements. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator to show your Certificate IV or Diploma maps to U.S. degree equivalency before you apply.
Target community colleges with HVAC programs
Community colleges and vocational institutes that run EPA 608-aligned HVAC programs are your most active employers. They file LCAs regularly, understand specialty occupation requirements for instructional roles, and are accustomed to sponsoring international faculty.
Clarify the specialty occupation case before applying
HVAC Instructor roles must require a bachelor's degree or equivalent to qualify under E-3 rules. If a job posting says 'trade certification preferred' rather than 'degree required,' the role may not pass the specialty occupation threshold. Confirm the degree requirement is in the official job description before pursuing sponsorship.
Ask your employer about LCA timeline early
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before you can apply for the E-3. DOL certifies most LCAs within seven working days, but delays happen. Confirm your employer knows this step is their responsibility and must happen before your consulate appointment.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA, DS-160, and consulate preparation. It's structured for clean cases where the employer is ready to move and you need the paperwork done without hiring a full immigration attorney.
Search for jobs on Migrate Mate before finalizing your application
Use Migrate Mate to find HVAC Instructor roles posted by U.S. employers already familiar with E-3 sponsorship. Filtering by visa type saves time and focuses your search on institutions that won't need educating about the process.

Find HVAC Instructor JobsHVAC Instructor E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find HVAC Instructor jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended way to search. It filters roles by employers who have E-3 sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to institutions unfamiliar with the visa. HVAC Instructor openings at community colleges and technical institutes are your most productive targets, as these employers regularly hire qualified instructors and already manage LCA filings with the DOL.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an HVAC Instructor role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It can, but it depends on how the employer defines the role. The E-3 requires the position to normally require a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a specific field. If the job description lists a degree in HVAC technology, mechanical engineering, or vocational education as a requirement, the specialty occupation threshold is met. Roles that only require a trade license or certification without a degree requirement won't qualify.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for HVAC Instructor roles?
The E-3 is significantly more practical for Australians in this role. There's no annual lottery, no random selection risk, and no cap that fills early in the year. The H-1B is subject to an 85,000-slot annual cap with a randomized selection process, meaning qualified applicants are regularly excluded. The E-3 allows you to apply as soon as you have a job offer and a certified LCA, without waiting for a registration window.
Will my Australian HVAC qualifications satisfy U.S. employer requirements?
Australian TAFE diplomas and Certificate IV qualifications in HVAC or refrigeration and air conditioning don't automatically translate to U.S. standards. You'll need a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service to demonstrate degree equivalency for the E-3 specialty occupation requirement. Some employers also ask whether you hold EPA 608 certification, which is a U.S. federal requirement for handling refrigerants and is separate from your Australian license.
