Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an IT Systems Specialist
Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian IT degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's for E-3 visa purposes. Get a credential evaluation letter ready before applying so employers don't flag your qualification as a blocker.
Target employers enrolled in E-Verify
IT departments at government contractors and federally regulated firms are legally required to use E-Verify. These employers already have structured onboarding for visa holders, which reduces friction when you bring up E-3 sponsorship during hiring.
Frame sponsorship as a simple LCA filing
Many U.S. IT hiring managers don't know the E-3 from the H-1B visa. Explain that there's no lottery, no cap risk, and the DOL Labor Condition Application is the primary employer step, not a full immigration case.
Verify your job title matches a specialty occupation
Titles like 'IT generalist' or 'help desk technician' can invite scrutiny because USCIS may view them as not requiring a specific bachelor's degree. Confirm your offer letter uses a title tied to a defined technical discipline, such as systems administrator or network engineer.
Nail your timing between offer and consulate appointment
Once your employer's LCA is DOL-certified, you can move to a consulate appointment. Book your Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth slot immediately because wait times fluctuate, and some applicants wait four to eight weeks during peak periods.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the paperwork
After you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. It removes the risk of filing errors that can delay your consulate appointment or trigger a request for evidence.
E-3 Visa IT Systems Specialist: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find IT Systems Specialist jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended way to search because it filters specifically for employers who sponsor the E-3 visa, so you're not wasting applications on companies unfamiliar with Australian work authorization. Standard job boards list open roles but don't screen for E-3 willingness, which means you often find out late in the process that sponsorship isn't on the table.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an IT Systems Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as information technology, computer science, or a related discipline. Roles where any degree is acceptable, or where the position is primarily operational rather than technical, can face USCIS scrutiny. Your offer letter should clearly tie the job duties to the required degree field.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for IT Systems Specialist roles?
The E-3 is significantly more practical for Australian IT professionals. There's no annual lottery, no cap risk, and no multi-year wait. You can apply at any time of year, receive a two-year visa renewable indefinitely, and switch employers more easily. The H-1B cap of 85,000 slots and the lottery mean many qualified applicants go unselected entirely, which isn't a risk you carry with the E-3.
Can I change IT employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL before you begin work. You don't need to leave the United States or get a new visa stamp if you're changing status domestically, but you must have the new employer's certified LCA in hand before your start date. Gaps in employment can complicate your status, so align your transition dates carefully.
