E-3 Visa Occupational Therapist Jobs
Occupational Therapist roles qualify as E-3 specialty occupations when the position requires a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy or a related field. Australian OTs can secure E-3 visa sponsorship without competing in the H-1B lottery, and your visa renews in two-year increments for as long as you hold a qualifying role.

Verify your AHPRA credentials transfer correctly
U.S. employers filing an LCA need your degree to meet specialty occupation standards. Confirm your Australian OT qualification maps to a U.S. bachelor's-level credential before applying, since a three-year degree may require a credential evaluation letter.
Target hospitals with active E-Verify enrollment
Health systems enrolled in E-Verify have already built compliant onboarding infrastructure. Filtering your search to these employers reduces friction during the LCA and I-9 stages, which matters when your start date is tied to consulate availability.
Get your NBCOT certification before negotiating your offer
Most U.S. states require NBCOT certification for OT licensure, and many employers won't initiate sponsorship without it. Sitting the exam while still in Australia removes a common bottleneck that delays LCA filing after an offer is signed.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and paperwork
The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment can proceed. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA submission, DS-160, and consulate preparation so nothing stalls between offer acceptance and your interview date.
Ask employers about state OT licensure sponsorship upfront
E-3 status and state licensure are separate. Some employers sponsor the visa but won't cover licensing fees or supervision hours for provisional licensees. Clarify this during the offer stage so there are no surprises after you arrive.
Find Occupational Therapist jobs with E-3 sponsorship on Migrate Mate
Most general job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship type. Migrate Mate surfaces OT roles from employers with active E-3 sponsorship history, so you're targeting positions where the hiring team already understands the process.
E-3 Visa Occupational Therapist: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Occupational Therapist jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
The most direct approach is searching Migrate Mate, which filters OT roles by employers with E-3 sponsorship history. General job boards don't distinguish between visa types, so you can spend weeks applying to positions where the employer has no sponsorship infrastructure. Migrate Mate surfaces roles where the hiring team already knows the E-3 process, which shortens the path from application to offer.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Occupational Therapist role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3 purposes?
Yes. OT roles qualify as specialty occupations because they require a specific bachelor's degree in occupational therapy or a closely related field. The key is that the job posting and offer letter must reflect this requirement. A role described as needing 'any bachelor's degree' may not meet the specialty occupation threshold, so the job description wording matters when your employer files the LCA with DOL.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Australian OTs?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual numerical cap that affects most applicants, while H-1B selection is randomised each April with roughly a one-in-four chance of selection. For Australian OTs, the E-3 is the faster and more predictable route. You apply directly at a U.S. consulate in Australia after your employer files an LCA, with no USCIS petition required. The two-year renewable status also has no hard limit on extensions.
Can I switch OT employers after arriving on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but your E-3 status is tied to the specific employer and role on your LCA. Changing employers requires your new employer to file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new visa stamp before re-entering the U.S., or a change of status filing if you're already onshore. You can begin working for the new employer once the new LCA is certified, but confirm the timing with whoever is handling your filing.
