Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Quality Assurance Specialist
Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees in engineering, science, or a related discipline are accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 specialty occupation purposes. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before applying.
Target industries with documented QA hiring patterns
Medical device, pharmaceutical, aerospace, and software sectors file LCAs for Quality Assurance Specialists at higher volumes than other industries. Focus your applications on regulated industries where documented QA processes are a compliance requirement, not a preference.
Confirm your job offer specifies a degree requirement
The E-3 specialty occupation standard requires that the role normally needs a bachelor's degree in a specific field. If your offer letter or job description says 'preferred' instead of 'required,' ask the employer to revise it before the LCA is filed.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA and paperwork
The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from offer to consulate appointment, so you and your employer avoid paperwork errors that delay certification.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at your interview
QA roles in the U.S. are often long-term positions, which can prompt consular officers to probe your ties to Australia. Bring documentation of property, family connections, or professional memberships in Australia to demonstrate intent to return when your status ends.
Request a new LCA when changing employers or roles
An approved E-3 visa is tied to a specific employer and position. If you're switching companies or moving into a different QA function, your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp before re-entering the U.S.

Find Quality Assurance Specialist JobsQuality Assurance Specialist E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Quality Assurance Specialist jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Quality Assurance Specialist roles where employers have a demonstrated history of sponsoring work visas, so you're not wasting applications on companies unfamiliar with the E-3 process. Filter by role and location to find positions already matched to your visa situation.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Quality Assurance Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, in most cases. The E-3 specialty occupation standard requires that the position normally demands a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as engineering, computer science, chemistry, or a related discipline. QA roles in regulated industries like medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and aerospace consistently meet this threshold. Roles that accept any degree or no degree may not qualify, so the job description wording matters.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Quality Assurance Specialist positions?
For Australian nationals, the E-3 is strictly preferable. The H-1B is subject to an annual lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate and a fixed cap of 85,000 slots. The E-3 has a separate annual allocation of 10,500 visas that has never been fully used, so there's no lottery and no cap risk. The employer-side paperwork is also lighter, making sponsorship easier to secure.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 in a QA role?
Yes, but you can't transfer an existing E-3 to a new employer the way an H-1B allows portability. Your new employer must file a fresh Labor Condition Application with DOL, and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp from an Australian consulate or a U.S. embassy before returning to the U.S. Plan for this lead time before you give notice at your current job.
