Document your degree equivalency early
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees, but gather official transcripts and a credential evaluation letter before applying. Employers may request these during the offer stage.
Target industries with active LCA filing histories
Focus your search on large-scale hospitality groups, food manufacturing companies, and national retail chains. These sectors file Labor Condition Applications regularly and their HR teams are more likely to recognize the E-3 process.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate for Shift Supervisor roles filtered by E-3 sponsorship history. Employers who have sponsored Australian workers before understand the LCA requirement and won't need to be educated about the process from scratch.
Clarify specialty occupation status before accepting
Not every Shift Supervisor role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Confirm with your prospective employer that the position requires a degree in a specific field, not just any bachelor's degree, before the LCA is filed with DOL.
Ask your employer to file the LCA promptly after signing
The DOL certifies LCAs within seven business days, but delays in initiating the filing push back your consulate appointment. Prompt filing after offer acceptance is the most controllable factor in your overall timeline.
Handle LCA and visa paperwork through a filing service
Shift Supervisor sponsors often have no internal immigration team. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end, so the process doesn't stall waiting for an employer to figure out the forms.

Find Shift Supervisor JobsShift Supervisor E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Shift Supervisor jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate and filter specifically for E-3-eligible roles. Many Shift Supervisor postings don't advertise visa sponsorship in the job listing itself, but employers who have hired Australian workers before are far more likely to engage once you raise the E-3. Targeting companies with a history of sponsoring Australian nationals saves significant time in the search process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Shift Supervisor role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the position is defined. A Shift Supervisor role qualifies if the employer can demonstrate it normally requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as operations management, hospitality management, or industrial engineering. Roles where any degree suffices, or where experience substitutes freely for education, face more scrutiny from DOL at the LCA stage.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Shift Supervisor positions?
The E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens and has no lottery, meaning you can apply any time of year once you have a job offer. The H-1B is subject to an annual cap and randomized selection, which means a qualified candidate with an offer can still go unselected. For Australian Shift Supervisors, the E-3 is a more reliable and faster path to U.S. employment.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a Shift Supervisor?
Yes, but you need to restart the process with the new employer. Your current E-3 stamp is tied to your sponsoring employer, so a job change requires a new LCA filed by the incoming employer, a new DS-160, and a new consulate appointment. You don't lose your status while that process is underway, provided you're still working for your current employer until the new visa is issued.
