Overview:
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager will play a critical role in an operations-based EHS leadership position, overseeing ongoing environmental health and safety functions within the manufacturing plant. The EHS Manager will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, continuing to foster a strong safety culture, and driving continuous improvement in EHS performance across the site.
The EHS Manager will be responsible for oversight of environmental, health, and safety of the manufacturing facility in North America. Establishing and enforcing robust safety protocols at the facility, promoting a culture of safety, and ensuring all personnel are working in a safe and compliant manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of EHS programs, ensuring alignment with local, state, and federal safety standards.
- Build and oversee plant safety, health, and environmental programs.
- Continue to develop and deliver EHS training for plant employees.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies.
- Manage air, water, and waste compliance programs (including Title V requirements).
- Collaborate with plant leadership to embed safety into standard operating procedures.
- Lead internal safety committees, internal audits, inspections, risk assessments, and manage plant-wide emergency preparedness initiatives.
- Daily engagement with production to drive awareness and adoption of safety practices.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety culture and reduce risk.
- Document, track, and report EHS program status including key performance indicators.
- Lead investigations for any on-site incidents or injuries, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented.
- Manage and oversee the wastewater program.
- Manage inventory and reporting for chemicals while ensuring proper handling and disposal of materials.
- Act as primary liaison for inspections, regulatory agencies, and local community partners.
REQUIREMENTS
This is an on-site role.
- Must be able to work in outdoor and indoor environments and adapt to changing conditions, including weather and terrain.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of EHS management experience in manufacturing environments and/or industrial construction.
- Strong knowledge of Federal, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification preferred.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
