Northrop Grumman is the world leader in the development and deployment of Infrared Countermeasure (IRCM) systems. We are seeking a Senior Electronics Engineering Manager (M3) to lead a team of managers and engineers in a dynamic and growing environment onsite in Rolling Meadows, IL, reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.
The successful candidate will support the assembly, alignment, and test of Electro-optical Sensors and Systems feeding the IRCM product lines. Manufacturing engineers and their leaders thrive in an environment of daily unique challenges and close proximity to products. Partnering with production, the organization leads troubleshooting and ensures excellence in hardware and software. Leaders who do well in this setting enjoy seeing their team’s successful performance in a test or a product as they collaborate and communicate across functions. What You’ll Get To Do:
The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the growth of their team, building engagement, encouraging career development, and fostering a team environment where everyone can contribute. This team will also be responsible for developing needed processes, equipment, software, and test stations supporting production and depot environments both on and off the Rolling Meadows campus for this critical area. In addition, this position will support the development of proposals, capacity analyses, and forecasting of capital equipment and depot expansion projects. A critical aspect of this position will be the ability to work across functional lines, collaborating with all departments to ensure successful outcomes. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Complete tasks as a member of the Manufacturing Engineering leadership team
- Develop knowledge management plans and ensure ongoing talent management
- Demonstrate opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement, and standardization
- Develop and execute IRCM Manufacturing Engineering team strategy
- Ensure cost and schedule performance to plan for Non-Recuring Engineering (NRE), Capital projects, and production support responsibilities.

- Demonstrated success leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and individual contributors.

- Expertise in a Manufacturing environment, with demonstrated experience running a work cell, engineering group, or technical projects.
Basic Qualifications for the Senior Electronics Engineering Manager 3:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field with a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience; OR a Master’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field with a minimum of 6 years relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a formal people leadership role.
- Relevant experience in manufacturing or design.
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) tools and decision making.
- Experience with the software development process
- Experience with Microsoft Tools
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in manufacturing engineering with a specific focus on electro-optics and gimballed systems.
- Experience in test equipment design and fabrication, optical alignment equipment, and tool design.
- Experience with product flow and production processes.
- Experience reading and understanding product drawings.
- Demonstrated successful experience in Capital Project Management
- Experience in cybersecurity compliance
- Software tools including SAP and databases.
- Experience and knowledge of Safety Data Sheets.
- Demonstrated experience in managing software development projects.
- Current Security Clearance – Secret

Primary Level Salary Range: $184,300.00 - $276,500.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
